申请美本的四种方式ED/EA/RD/RA

在美国本科申请中,分别有ED/EA/RD/RA比较常见的申请美本的四种方式。想要在申请的过程中事半功倍,学生在申请过程中选择最适合自身情况的申请方式。今天我们就四种不同的申请方式来分析一下它们各自的区别,优缺点是什么。

EARLY DECISION ——提早决定录取

ED I

Early Decision简称ED,它是一种与唯一所大学之间具有捆绑性的协议。一旦此大学录取您,您只能选择该学校并且拒绝其他所有学校。在学生申请ED的过程中,只能提交一所大学的ED,并且不能选择其他三种申请方式(EA/RD/RA)。

由于ED的唯一性和捆绑性,因此ED是在申请美本的四种方式中最需谨慎的一种方式。申请ED I时可选择比自我水平略微高一些,并且想冲刺的学校。如果标准化成绩都已到达理想学校的分数线,可以抓住申请ED I的机会,提交申请。提交ED I申请时,只能提交一所学校的申请。一旦被ED I录取后,学生只能选择此校,并不得做任何更改。

截止日期:10月底提交申请,11月1日或15日截止申请,12月中旬出结果

优点:出录取通知相较于其他申请最早,比常规申请录取率高

缺点:一旦拿到ED1学校的Offer,只能选择就读此学校

ED II

ED II和ED1的性质相同,但是ED II为没有提交ED1申请的学生或被ED1拒绝的学生提供的二次机会。有时学生会因为标化成绩不够理想再次参加考试,这时学生可以选择时间较为宽松的ED II申请。ED2的申请与ED1一样,一旦学校发出ED II的录取,学生只能选择该学校并不能提交其他RD申请,如已提交,需撤回。

ED录取结果:录取(Accept),拒绝(Reject),条件性录取(Conditional Offer),延迟(Defer)(到4月,和RD一起出结果)

同学只有在出示证明负担不起学费的情况下,才可能拒绝学校的ED录取。

EARLY ACTION ——提早行动

Early Action与ED不同的是它不具有约束性,学生在申请时可以申请多所学校的EA,如果收到学校的EA录取,学校并不要求学生做到承诺就读此校。在提交EA的申请同时也可以提交其他学校的常规申请或ED申请。在EA下达录取结果后,也可以继续申请其他学校。在申请EA时,建议学生选择一些与自身条件差不多的大学,因为一旦录取,此EA学校可成为学生的保底校。有了一所学校的Offer后学生将有信心很多,并且更加安心。

Single-choice Early Action/Restrictive Early Action: 这是两种比较特殊的EA,即限制你申请其他学校的EA和ED。学生一旦选择了Single-Choice Early Action和Restrictive Early Action,就不能再申请其他学校的ED、EA了。

截止日期:EA的申请截止日期通常在11月,录取结果在12月或1月通知。学生需要在5月决定是否去此学校。

-缺点:需提前准备申请材料、成绩等,竞争激烈。

目前采取Single-Choice Early Action和Restrictive Early Action的本科院校有Harvard、Yale、Stanford、Princeton,Boston College, Georgetown University, the University of Notre Dame。

REGULAR DECISION ——常规录取

这是申请美本的四种方式中最传统的申请方式,截止时间通常在1月1日。有些学生准备标准化考试时间较晚,或是还没有足够的底气提交之前的ED申请,那么这时候的regular decision更为适合此学生。学生可以根据自我水平申请多所心仪的学校,拿到Offer后选择最向往的学校就读。

截止日期:1/1日截止申请,3月中旬至4月1日出录取结果。学生在5月1日之前给出答复。

-优点:有充足的时间准备标准化考试,可选择多所大学。

ROLLING ADMISSION——滚动申请

Rolling Admission为滚动申请。滚动申请没有具体的申请截止日期,学生只需把申请的材料准备齐全并提交至学校。学校收到申请材料后招生办会开始对学生申请材料进行审核,并且通知学生录取结果,直到学校录取人数满为止。

-截止日期:无固定日期

Pellets are small balls of iron ore used in steel production. They are one of the important sources of iron in the manufacture of steel. The cross-section of the slab bloom is usually greater than 225 square centimeters and about 8 to 12 meters long. In earlier mills, ingots were made from cast ingots (called "nodular iron"), but in modern mills they are made by continuous casting.

 

Production Procedure of Steel Bloom

Steel bloom are rectangular gas chambers about 5 meters deep, in which four to eight ingots are simultaneously heated to about 1,250°C (2,300°F). The soaking pit is highly computerized and can be used for scheduling, firing rate, heating time (lasting 8 to 18 hours) and rolling programs.

 

After heating, the conveyor carries the hot ingot to a two-high reversing mill, which passes, again and again, turning the roll and roll table over each time the ingot passes. Oxygen steelmaking provides fuel mainly through the exothermic properties of the reaction inside the vessel. Instead, in EAF steelmaking, electrical energy is used to melt solid waste and/or DRI materials. In recent years, with more chemical energy introduced into the process, the development of EAF steelmaking technology has approached that of oxygen steelmaking.

 

The main difference between routes is the type of raw materials for steel production. For the BF-BOF route, it is mainly iron ore, coal, and recycled steel, while the EAF route uses recycled steel and electricity to produce steel. Depending on the configuration of the plant and the availability of recycled steel, other metallic iron sources such as direct reduced iron (DRI) or molten iron can also be used in the EAF route.
