Principle of Define Rapid Prototyping Technology

Rapid prototyping is a digital prototyping technology based on discrete stacking forming. It uses discrete/stacking principle (such as solidification, bonding, welding, sintering, polymerization or other chemical reactions) to produce parts. Its working process is to obtain the path, restriction and mode of accumulation by discretization, and to "superimpose" materials to form three-dimensional entities by accumulation. First, in the CAD software system, the chieftain obtains the three-dimensional model plough or the surface data of the part entity through the measuring instrument, and then transforms the model into three-dimensional model. Secondly, the model is processed by data processing, and the CAD model is discretized along a certain direction (usually Z direction), and the plane slice is stratified.

Then the discrete layered information is combined with the information of forming process parameters and converted into the NC code to control the work of the forming machine. A three-dimensional solid part can be obtained by regularly and accurately stacking the materials controlled by a special CAM system.

Typical Rapid Prototyping Process

At present, there are more than ten methods of rapid prototyping technology, such as light curing, laminated manufacturing, laser sintering, fused deposition, mask curing, three-dimensional printing, spraying and so on. Mainstream forming methods are the first four.

Stereo lithography apparatus

Stereo lithography apparatus(SLA) is also known as stereolithography. SLA process is based on the principle of photopolymerization of liquid photosensitive resins. Under the specific wavelength and intensity of ultraviolet light irradiation, the liquid materials rapidly undergo photopolymerization, and the materials change from liquid to solid. The schematic diagram of SLA forming process is shown in Fig. 1 (a). The liquid tank is filled with liquid photosensitive resin. Under the deflection mirror, the laser beam can scan on the liquid surface. Where the light spot is scanned, the liquid solidifies. At the beginning of forming, the depth under the liquid level of the working platform is determined , and the liquid level is always out of the laser focusing plane. After focusing, the spot is scanned point by point on the liquid surface according to the instructions of the computer. It is point by point solidification. When a layer of scanning is completed, the untreated area is still liquid resin. Then the elevator drives the platform down one layer of height, and the formed layer is covered with a layer of resin. The scraper scrapes the liquid surface of the resin with high viscosity, and then scans the next layer. The newly solidified layer is firmly adhered to the former layer. This is repeated until the whole part is manufactured and a three-dimensional solid model is obtained.

SLA method is the most widely studied method in the field of RP technology, and it is also the most mature method in technology.

Generally, the thickness of the layer is (0.1-0.15) mm, and the precision of the formed parts is high. Years of research have improved the cross-section scanning mode and resin formability, so that the processing accuracy of the process can reach 0.1 mm, and now the highest accuracy has reached 0.05 mm. However, this method also has its own limitations, such as the need for support, resin shrinkage leading to a decline in accuracy, and photosensitive resin has a certain degree of toxicity, and so on.

The Operation Principle of the Ball Mill

The material is entered into the hollow shaft by the feeding device, and then it enters the first warehouse of the ball mill evenly. There are stepped lining plates or corrugated lining plates with different sizes of steel balls inside the warehouse. The cylinder rotates to produce centrifugal force for bringing the steel ball to a certain height and then it falls down. This produces heavy blow and grinding effects to the material. After the rough grinding process, the material enters the second warehouse through a single clapboard. The warehouse is lined with a scale-board with steel balls for further grinding. The powder is discharged by the discharging grate plate to finish the grinding operation.

Small but powerful.

Zhiyun is a Chinese technology company that has been releasing gimbals now for a few years. The brand started with smaller mobile phone type gimbals, but over the years has increased it’s range to include full-size, full-feature products that rival DJI’s Ronin.

The M2 works with mirrorless cameras, mobile phones and GoPro action cameras.

The Zhiyun Crane M2 is a bit of a crossover product because it’s as small as the mobile phone dedicated gimbals the company makes but powerful enough to handle a mirrorless camera. On top of that though, the Crane M2 ships with mounts for fitting a GoPro or mobile phones, and if you do choose to shoot with your mobile you’ll get impressive features such as automatic targeting tracking.

After reading the specifications I was a little sceptical after all this is a gimbal that costs just £259 shipped, and ticks every box I wanted ticking. Before pulling the trigger I decided to check out a few YouTube videos of the Zhiyun Crane M2 to see if it was really up for balancing a mirrorless and surprisingly those reviews and tests proved it was.

Manual controls.

The M2’s powerful motors aren’t just to keep your camera steady but can also be manually controlled via buttons located on the handle.

Joystick and OLED display.

A joystick on the rear of the device enables manual movement over the gimbal which is great for tracking or panning shots. Below the joystick is a record button which will use Bluetooth to start recording on your camera, and next to that a mode button for flicking through the various modes the gimbal supports including a POV mode, GO mode for sports and fast-moving subjects and even a Vortex mode that spins the camera around for some very creative shots.

There’s also a trigger on the front of the handle which can be used to quickly tap from mode to mode, plus it has a triple tap feature that spins the camera around for vlog-style selfie filming.

The M2 easily handles a Sony A6300.

Depending on the camera that you set up with the Zhiyun Crane M2 you’ll also have remote control capabilities and from the handle, you’ll be able to shoot video, photos and even control the zoom. This does all depend on your camera though. I first tested it with the Sony A6000 but the firmware of the camera only allows photo controls remotely whereas the A6300 will run video and zoom too.

Axis locks help with packing the M2 in your bag.

The gimbal also packs useful axis locks for easy transportation and to aid balancing, and it ships with a phone holder, a screw-in mini tripod too, USB Type C wire, and the case it ships in is sturdy enough to use as a protective case.
