RAL has the advantages over retinoic acid for its  "reverse metabolism", the excess RAL can be rapidly reduced to retinol, and storage or inactivation in the form of retinol, and this "reverse metabolism" does not exist in retinoic acid. After RAL is absorbed by the skin, most are converted into retinol vinegar and stored for slow releasing, while a small amount of RAL is oxidized to retinoic acid by keratinized cells in A differentiation dependent manner, and this very small amount of retinoic acid can play biological functions in cells. This can avoid the skin adverse reaction caused by high dose of vitamin A acid. Clinical obeservation is also shown that RAL cream has better tolerance than retinoic acid and can be applied to sensitive parts. External used RAL was not absorbed into human blood, and the levels of various retinoids in the blood were also not affected by the external used RAL.
