LINER HANGER

The liner cementing is realized by the liner hanger, which reduces the casing weight of the first well in the deep well, improves the load of the rig lifting system when the casing is cut, and reduces the flow resistance of the cement slurry, which is beneficial to safe construction. Through the liner connection, the problem of drilling operation due to the wear of the upper casing can be solved; using the liner suspension cementing technology can also reduce the amount of casing and save the drilling cost.

 

Features of Liner Hanger:

 

The liner hanger drilling is mechanical set by right-hand rotation. Do not use ball and operation easy.

 

 

The main parts of the line hanger are made of high-strength alloy steel, which ensures high mechanical performance and strong ability to hang heavy liner.

 

 

All of the pump-down plug, liner wiper plug and the landing collar have locking systems and are easily drillable.

 

 

The pack-off bushing can be pulled out with the setting tool and therefore saves time for drilling out.

 

 

The seal assembly contains a set of "W" packing rings that have perfect two-direction sealing capacity.

 

 

To release the setting tool from the liner, simply apply 5 to 10 t load to the drill string and rotate right hand.

 

 

The gage rings on the liner hanger not only serve as rigid centralizers, but also protect the hydraulic cylinder and slips while running in.

 

Applications of Liner Hanger:

The Liner hanger mainly realizes tail pipe suspension through hydraulic transmission. It is widely used in oil and gas wells, technical tail pipe of salt brine wells and geothermal wells and production tail pipe cementing. In the following cases, the tail pipe hanger is used for cementing:

  1. It is possible to save a lot of casing and cost for deep wells and evaluation wells.
  2. Completion of the casing head and surface casing load
  3. Improve long-term cement cementing operations to prevent low-pressure leakage
  4. Quickly and easily seal the open hole section and the old well deepening cementing
  5. Provide flexible completion methods and safer cementing operations
  6. In the Rock salt well section, the tail pipe is used to enhance the sealing strength of the rock salt section.
  7. Seal the damaged section of the upper casing (corrosion, fracture)

Hydraulic Liner Hanger Tie-Back Assembly

The liner hanger assembly is a special cementing tool for tieback operation.

 

Tieback equipment allows existing liners with a receptacle to be extended to the surface or farther up hole, and provides a high-pressure seal at the top of a cemented or uncemented liner. TIW offers variety of tieback seal nipples and tieback packers to accommodate liner top extension and remedial operations.

 

Tieback Procedures of Hydraulic Liner Hanger Tie-Back Assembly

  1. Preparation before casing

 

Measure and drift the casings carefully and clean all the threads.

 

Calculate the kelly-up of the casing (the particular part of the last casing which is above the rotary table) and arrange the casing string.

 

Prepare several casings, which are approximately 0.5m shorter than the others and convenient for kelly-up calibration. (The actual kelly-up is not equal to the calculated value due to measurement error and the remaining threads of the casings.)

 

 

 

  1. Polishing the polished bore receptacle

 

Connect the milling shoe and trip in. Polish the inner surface of the polished bore receptacle, make sure there is no debris.

 

Note the depth of the milling shoe when it reaches the top of the seal assembly (judge from the changes on pressure and WOB). Then lift the drill string for 1m.

 

Use a drilling rate of 40~50rpm and a normal flow rate. Slowly lower the drill string. Polish the inner surface of the polished bore receptacle twice or three times. Each time polish 3~4min. During the last polishing, apply an additional load of 2~3t when the torque suddenly increases (the milling shoe reaches the top of the seal assembly) during the last polishing. Polish for another 2~3min and note the depth of the milling shoe, which is an important clue for the casing setting depth.

 

Circulate with high flow rate for 5min.

 

Trip out and check the milling shoe. If there is a circle of polished trace and the diameter is equal to the I.D. of the left thread on the seal assembly, then the milling shoe have reached the bottom of the polished bore receptacle.

 

 

 

Features of Hydraulic Liner Hanger Tie-Back Assembly

With the guide shoe and circulate bore, it can stab into polished bore receptacle before cementing, more convenient than conventional cementing which pumps down cement before stabbing.

 

With its streamline shape, the guide shoe can stab into polished bore receptacle easily.

 

The Tieback Seal Assembly with three stacks of molyglass seal is designed for high-pressure and high-temperature liner tieback completions. Available in seal length is 1.2m.
