Types of Medical Applications
Medical device not only needs to consider operator protection, such as doctor and nurse, but also patient protection. The requirements of the operator and the patient protection are different. Since the health state of a patient and operator is different and the patient normally is in a weaker state, thus a higher level of protection is required for the patient. Medical device is divided into three types (see below) according to the judgment that - whether the medical device is in electrical contact with the patient and how to contact the patient.
For those medical devices which do not have direct electrical contact with the patient (B type), it is only considered to provide operator protection, thus such medical devices have lower requirements for power supplies. However, if the medical devices contact the patient’s heart (CF type), which is the most sensitive part of human body, it is considered to provide the highest protection level for the patient, in that case the medical devices have higher requirements for power supplies.
Tips for Selecting Power Supplies for Medical Applications
First of all, it is necessary to confirm if medical device has electrical contact or has the possibility to contact with patient. If devices which are used in hospitals have direct electrical contact with patients, who in some cases are in a weak condition, even a small amount of leakage current can have negative effects on the patients. The leakage current of the power supply for medical device must be limited to the lowest specified value. Medical device tends to be more sensitive to electromagnetic interference (EMI) than most of the industrial device. Therefore, the power supply for medical device should meet more stringent EMI standards. The key of the power supply for medical device applications is the safety and reliable insulation between the input and output as any shortcoming in insulation would result in the risk of electric shock. The isolation voltage between primary and secondary side of the transformer, safety distance (creepage and clearance) provide measures of insulation. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to leakage current, EMI and reliable insulation when selecting a power supply for medical device.
If medical device is not likely to have electrical contact with patient, it is enough to use a medical grade or industrial grade power supply which is able to provide enough operator protection.

Ventilator Application Analysis

Ventilator Power Supply Requirements
The power system of ventilator includes mains AC/DC power supply, DC/DC power supply and internal backup batteries. At present, most of the professional non-contact camera scanner in the market adopt the arrangement of the imaging lens and linear CCD. When ocr book scanner scanning books, ancient books, newspapers and other original parts, use the change of distance to maintain the correct focus. In the a3 book scanner scanning process, the linear CCD sensor will capture the information in the original in the order of red, green and blue lines. When the CCD processor converts these lines into the correct order, the image is composed of the full resolution of RGB value, without the phenomenon of lacking colour channel of matrix CCD.
The linear CCD sensor can convert the light signal on the surface of the original book into an electrical signal. The colour filter provides a very high colour saturation for red, green and blue continuous CCD elements, which is the characteristic of a typical linear CCD scanner. The pixel size of high-quality linear CCD is quite large, 10 μ m × 10 μ m is a typical pixel size value. Larger pixel sizes can help reduce noise and other possible effects on image quality.
In the scanning system, reducing the lens quality has a great influence on the image quality. However, if compared with the lens in the matrix CCD sensor module, the effect is much smaller. Because only the middle part of the lens is used effectively when the lens is collecting images. To get the same image quality as linear CCD, the lens of a matrix CCD sensor must be twice the diameter of the linear CCD sensor. Even in this way, the matrix CCD lens will have an obvious colour difference, geometric distortion and strong loss at the corner.
Matrix CCD sensor module uses a planar CCD composed of very small pixels. At present, the matrix CCD sensors are all arranged on a standard Bayer filter by two green, one red and one blue pixel according to the rule of four times. By using this technology, two times of green channel and four times of red and blue channel are reduced in image acquisition.
