美国高中编程比赛,助力本科CS申请!

炙手可热的美国高中编程比赛

著名 美国高中编程比赛 USACO(USA Computing Olympiad),又称美国信息学奥林匹克竞赛,对于本科希望申请计算机科学(Computer Science,以下简称CS)的同学来说,是高中阶段不能错过的黄金背景提升项目。这个赛事类似于中国国内的NOIP(全国青少年信息学奥林匹克竞赛),NOI(全国青少年信息学奥林匹克竞赛)等系列的比赛,同样都是算法竞赛。

USACO首次举办于1992年,截至2020年已经成功举办27次,目的是为了帮助美国信息学国家队选拔参加IOI(国际信息学奥林匹克竞赛)的队员。目前该赛事逐渐发展为全球热门的线上赛事,和奥数IMO一样,成为美国大学申请中,含金量相当高的官方竞赛。

USACO赛制

USACO的比赛分为四大组别,分别为青铜、白银、黄金、白金。每个组别在每个赛季中获得优秀成绩即可上升到下一个组别中。

美国高中编程比赛的比赛形式,比赛采取积分赛制,分为月赛和公开赛两轮。月赛举办于每年十二月、一月与二月,公开赛举办于每年的三月。在每场月赛中,根据之前题目的完成情况,选手会被分为不同的组别(铜组、银组、金组与铂金组),难度依次递增。新注册的参赛选手需要从铜组开始参加,在规定时间内完成三道题目,如果完成度较好将会被提升到更高组别。选手可以在该次月赛指定的时间范围(通常是4天,覆盖一个周末)中的任何一个时间打开题目,并在规定的时间内完成比赛并提交。通常情况,月赛比赛的时长为3-4小时,选手需要完成3-4道题目。

USACO含金量

随着近年人工智能和编程教育的推广普及,美国高中编程比赛的参赛人数水涨船高,热度越来越高。对于申请美本和优质夏校的学生而言,在USACO能够获得黄金或者铂金级别的奖项,绝对是提高竞争力的不二途径。Quora网站(类似于国内的知乎)有人给出的一个USACO和AMC在申请学校时含金量的比较:

加州大学官宣取消标化

昨天QS公布的美国大学排行榜中,加州大学系(UC)表现突出,我们在《大洗牌!QS首次美国大学排名》中有分析。而5月22日凌晨,加州大学系统官方发布了一则重磅消息。

UC董事会以23:0全票通过一项重要决议,投票表决停止使用SAT和ACT大学入学考试,并在未来五年内逐步废除考试,即2025年起停止使用SAT和ACT成绩作为入学要求,直到UC系统推出单独的入学考试作为新的录取标准。

其实UC做出这一决定并不令人意外。自去2019年起,传言就接连不断,明里暗里说UC会取消SAT/ACT入学成绩的要求。到了现在,UC官方终于给出了正面回应。

据悉这次董事会电话会议持续了数小时,经历了长时间的专家陈述和辩论,讨论的关键点有两个:标准化测试是否歧视弱势学生、标准化测试是否能够帮助招生办公室找到真正有资格的申请者。

反对标化考试的人们的观点一直很明确:此类测试会导致少数族裔和低收入学生群体处于劣势。毕竟想要提高成绩,最直接的方法都需要投入大量金钱(补习、刷分)。

加州大学ACT/SAT

现在,根据这项刚刚通过的决议,2021 和 2022 秋季的所有申请者都可以选择是否提交 SAT 和 ACT 测试成绩。加州大学董事会主席 John Perez 认为,这项举措是“朝着正确方向迈出的关键一步”。

具体来分析一下此次uande规则,变更如下:

自选阶段(2021 年秋季和 2022 年秋季):Test Optional,申请时仍然可以提交 SAT 和 ACT 测试成绩,同时会有相应的政策和程序来实施这一决定。

盲招阶段(2023 年秋季和 2024 年秋季):Test-blind加州大学在审查来自加州公立/私立高中学生的申请时,不再将 ACT/SAT 的测试成绩用于参考,但仍可用于课程安排、奖学金等用途。

新标准化测试阶段(2020 年夏季开始,2021 年 1 月结束):UC将采取一种创新的程序来创建一个新的测试,用以筛选申请者,内容涵盖加州大学希望申请人掌握的各项知识,考察他们在申请UC的过程中是否做好了充分准备。

取消 ACT/SAT 测试要求:到 2025 年,加州学生将完全告别 ACT/SAT 成绩申请,通过新的 UC 认证测试作为衡量标准。但如果到了 2025 年新的 UC 认证测试尚未准备就绪,加州学生的入学申请仍不参考 ACT/SAT 成绩;

取消写作测试:UC 本科生录取将完全不参考 SAT 作文测试和 ACT 写作测试,从 2021 年秋季录取起这一项的分数对于申请UC来说无参考意义。

有网友表示,如果其他大学也推行相同举措,将每年为学生和家长节省大量的时间和金钱。

但也有些网友认为此举会加剧加州学生的分数膨胀,造成一些不良影响。

还有些人认为,标准化测试是教育的红线,此举会带来一系列未知的多米诺骨牌效应,学生和学校都应该做好准备。

这对于国际学生意味着什么呢?

近几年,标化成绩水涨船高,亚裔学生在标化成绩上一直具备优势,所以Test-Optional政策确实提高了大家申请的难度。而加州大学的这次将推出的“应试录取(Test-Blind)”又将带来新一轮的挑战。

目前根据官网的表述来看,更多的消息是针对加州本地学生,而对于州外和国际学校的申请生而言,在未来应该会出台更具体的要求和措施。因此近几年中国申请者应注意,SAT/ACT仍然是重要的标化考试,有条件的同学仍然需要认真准备。

Tips to Stop Sand Making Machine Vibration

The daily maintenance of sand making machine is essential. The sand making machine must be allowed to stop at regular intervals and the internal wear of the machine must be observed regularly. Replace or repair. It should also be noted that the observation window should not be opened during the normal operation of the sand making machine, so as to avoid dangerous accidents.

The tension of V-belt of reversible sand making machine should be adjusted properly to ensure uniform loading of V-belt. Adjustments should be made so that the current difference between the two motors does not exceed 15A. Add proper amount of grease every 400 hours. After 2000 hours of operation, open the spindle assembly to clean the bearing. Normally, it can work for 7200 hours and replace the bearing with a new one. The upper bearing of the spindle assembly is a floating end and the lower bearing is a fixed end. After assembly, turn the pulley by hand to make it rotate flexibly. During the operation of the sand making machine, due to the high speed of the equipment, special attention should be paid to the safety production. Relevant personnel should stay away from the equipment. If maintenance is needed on the machine, it should be done after shutdown. It is recommended that you ask professional maintenance personnel to solve the problem. It is strictly forbidden to dismantle the core components without the permission of the manufacturer.

Regularly close and open the observation door to observe the internal wear of the sand making machine. The wear degree of the central feed pipe, conical cover, upper and lower runner bushing of impeller, circumferential protection plate and wear block should be replaced or repaired in time after wear. At the same time, replace the wear block to ensure that the weight of the wear block is the same. It is strictly forbidden to open the observation door to observe the internal working state during the operation of sand making machine, so as to avoid danger. The impeller body is found to be worn and replaced in time to find the manufacturer for repair. In particular, it is strictly forbidden to manufacture impellers without the permission of the manufacturer.

The main body of the sand making machine is made of high precision, high strength casting and special welding and materials. It has good rigidity, vibration resistance and long service life. The investment can be large or small, and the production method is flexible. Sand making machine can start from a small amount of investment in mold, or can be directly large-scale production. It can be produced in a fixed location or on the move. The sand making machine does not need very high production conditions. Simple industrial shed can be used as workshop, products are stored in open air, no warehouse is needed, and the quality of workers is not high.

The inlet size of sand making machine should be adjusted according to the required product size. When adjusting, loosen the t-row bolts and the tension spring. Use the jack up bolt to push in the adjusting seat, insert or remove the corresponding thickness of gasket, and then retract the jack up bolt. The adjusting seat is firmly fixed on the ear seat of the reversible sander under the weight of the movable jaw. Press the shim pack together.

Adjust the preload of the spring to ensure that the thrust plate and the thrust plate pad are in close contact when the sand making machine is working. However, as long as the preload is not issued, there should not be too much knocking at the door and then locking the adjusting seat. A layer of metal plate shall be laid on the basic mine drainage pipe, and the metal plate shall have sufficient inclination angle (determined by the fluidity of the material and shall not be less than 50 °) so as not to hinder the smooth discharge of the crushed product.

Since the sand making machine will vibrate violently when it works, it should be installed on the concrete foundation. In order to reduce vibration, noise and impact on the foundation of nearby buildings, please use it between hardwood pads, rubber bands or other damping materials.

The connecting structure of the ring knife and the push rod of the digestive tract stapler includes the pushrod and a ring knife fixedly connected with the pushrod. On the outside of the ring knife stated above, are set with the pad cutter rings arranged in the circumferential direction. The end of the ring knife is embedded in the pushrod. Because the end of the ring knife is embedded on the push rod, the concentricity of the ring knife and the push rod is high.
