(Washington, D.C.) - May 20, 2011 - Marti Dorner has been through her share of trials. The former background vocalist for top Christian artists such as Larnelle Harris, Ron Kenoly and The Gaither Vocal Band, has weathered many a storm.  But she has emerged better and stronger with a song in her heart.  A supreme vocalist who can easily glide from Contemporary Christian music and Contemporary Gospel, Marti just released her long-awaited self-titled debut.  The 11-track CD is not just an impressive collage of musical experiences, but each and every song is breathed out of tragedies and triumphs.

"Even Now", the CD's lead single, is a reminder of the fact that God is always present. The song was penned by the artist after one of the most painful times in her life.  "I wrote 'Even Now' after the loss of my first child," explains Marti.  "Although I was going through an excruciating amount of pain, the lyrics to the song came to me."  The song's words center around giving praise to the Lord, "no matter where the winds will blow". It's a song about walking with God even through life's stormy times.

Depression and other challenges have come her way, but with God's help, she's persevered.  As a youth, she struggled with insecurities, not thinking she was pretty and feeling like she didn't fit in.  Those experiences have given her a heart for young women.  It's the reason why she wants to encourage them to view themselves through the eyes of God.  Marti says, "I want to make sure that young women know that no matter what they go through or what people say about them, they need to believe what the Bible says about them.  They need to understand who they are in God."

Her project contains songs of joy as well.  Tracks like the mellow and liberating, "Free" and "Clap Your Hands", a festive song of rejoicing highlighted by Caribbean rhythms, which flaunt Marti's Bahamian roots, celebrate the ultimate joy all believers have in Christ.  Other inspirational ballads on Marti include the breathtakingly beautiful track, "In His Hands" and the upbeat praise anthem "Sacrifice".  Marti shines brightly on the soft, reverent ballad, "I Come To Worship".
