Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis refers to the polyacrylamide gel that formed with the effect of acrylamide (abbreviated as Acr) and crosslinker N,N'-methylenebisacrylamide (abbreviated as Bis) under the action of catalyst ammonium persulfate (APS), N, N, N', N' tetramethylethylenediamine (TEMED) by polymeric cross-linking and used as a support for electrophoresis. 

Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis can separate proteins into several zones according to the difference in charge of different protein molecules and the different mobility generated by different molecular sizes. If the sample contains only the same protein, only one band should be separated after the protein sample is electrophoresed. SDS is an anionic surfactant that breaks the hydrogen and hydrophobic bonds of a protein and combines it with a protein molecule to form a complex.
