The CD Single with a Strong Message of Hope

Today, native Washingtonian Singer/Songwriter Renea Sings is proud to announce the release of her long awaited project “Destiny”.  “Destiny” is a song that expresses an empowering message that inspires people to pursue their destiny, regardless of where they find themselves in life.

Have you ever asked yourself questions like, “Why am I here? What is my purpose in life; or have ever felt like there has to be more to life. If you’ve ever been discouraged from reaching for your dreams, then “Destiny” is for you!” says Renea Sings. Her “Destiny” single airs online on November 12, 2016.

Renea Sings has performed in Washington DC and Las Vegas with the legendary William DeVaughn, best known for his 70’s hit “Be Thankful For What You Got”.  She has also lent her talent to community events such as the Back to School Concert for Washington DC’s 1580 AM Radio, National Park Service Summer Concert Series, Bethesda Yacht Club with Jeff Majors, and Radio One Love Festival with the late Miss DC Community, Sheila Steward.

Renea’s music has a way of captivating her audience with her warm and transparent personality. Her music is a reflection of her experiences from becoming a teenage mom head of household at age 17 to performing LIVE in Las Vegas as a professional singer.

Renea understands what it feels like to experience hopelessness and despair. The songwriter says these issues affect everyone at some point in their lives, “whether you’re a millennial, generation x, latch key kid, or a baby boomer.”

Renea believes “Destiny” brings a relevant message of hope at a time in our country when many are feeling hopeless and despair over race relations and terrorism.  “Destiny” will encourage listeners to “focus on the things we as a human race have in common, and to come together based on that, rather than focusing on our differences.”  The singer says her song “will not resolve all your issues, but it will inspire hope.”

Press On! Webzine, Winter 2011

Good grooming should be not only making sure the outside is clean, but should also include internal cleansing by the Holy Spirit to rid us of any negativity that can cloud the path toward our destiny.

“Let It Drive You to Greatness” details how Denver Bronco quarterback, Tim Tebow, used negative comments about him as fuel to catapult him into his destiny. Read this article to find out how you can do the same thing in your life.

“Sagging (Pants) – A Flash From the Past” outlines what I believe is the concept behind why some youth wear sagging pants. Read it and let me know what you think.

In “Instant Mom,” Kim Washington shares how she is raising her nephews since her sister died from cancer earlier this year. And I share how I deal with a personality trait that I’ve battled all my life in “The Voice of an Introvert.”

Holidays are the worst for those of you like me, who have suffered a loss (loved one, job, relationship, etc). For me, it was battling depression after my sister died. Therefore, I decided to reprint the article, “Get Yourself Together,” that appeared in the Summer 2008 issue in hopes that it will encourage you to move forward. I dedicate this issue in loving memory to my sister, Anna and included her photo with the article.

These are just a few highlights of the attached Winter 2011 issue of Press On! Webzine, www.pressonwebzine.com.

Oprah Winfrey Said it!

By Phenola Moore

I developed earlier than most girls my age. In the 5th grade, I was 5’2” and had the adult physique to go along with the height. Don’t worry, my parents kept a watchful eye on me to make sure my womanly body didn’t rob me of my childhood innocence. :>) Eventually, I would reach 5’8”and my body continued to develop with my height.

Needless to say, children aren’t too kind to others who look outside what they perceive as normal. The taunting and isolation from the popular groups played a toll on my self-esteem that made an indelible mark on my soul. But I didn’t realize the depth of it until I reached adulthood.

In order to release this pain, I wrote down my experiences and how I felt through writing. First, I was inspired to write articles and poems that developed into an online magazine, Press On! Webzine, www.pressonwebzine.com.

And later, I compiled my poems in Reveal the Real You Poetry Collection. There it was in black and white, my internal struggles expressed in poems.

Poems like “Can You Handle the New Me?“ reflects me embracing my self worth as I learned to accept the internal and external me. “A Conversation With Survival,” addressed the inner war I went through after my eldest sister suddenly passed away. “Destiny” reminds us that we are on a journey. And when we think we can’t go any further, “Strength” reminds us of the inner force that pushes us forward. These are just a few of the poems that will inspire you to look within yourself to reveal the real you.

Oprah said during the final episode of “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” that everybody has a calling and our job is to find out what it is and get to doing it. Writing is my calling and I hope these poems in Reveal the Real You Poetry Collection,” encourage you to push past any obstacles and walk in yours.
