Prayer is both valuable and necessary but we also need to do something practical that the Lord can bless and use for the sake of others to grow in His kingdom. 
 

When Jehoshaphat was surrounded by a great army from Moab, Ammon and Mt Seir he enquired of the Lord and prayed publicly to the Lord, when the prophet gave him God’s word, This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s. 16Tomorrow march down against them.  …  Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you. 
After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and to praise him for the splendor of his ^c holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying:

“Give thanks to the Lord,

for his love endures forever.”

22As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated. Read the whole story in 2 Chronicles 20

I want you to note:-

• They prayed.
• They had a direct word from God.
• They consulted the people. They had a strategy.
• They put the singers and musicians in front of the army.
• The enemy destroyed themselves.
• Jeshoshaphat didn’t even have to fight, but they did have to work, it took 3 days to carry off the plunder. 

Think about Joshua walking around the walls of Jericho, they heard from God, they had a strategy, they had to do something, but then the walls came down without any battering ram or artillery, still the Israelites had to go in and fight and take possession of the city.

There are too many Christians today playing around with prayer and not hearing from God, getting a strategy, doing the work or getting into the fight. 
If you pray first, seek His will and guidance then when He gives you a strategy, go out and fight. God will give you the victory, stop waiting for some giant blessing of money, land, buildings, or other resources to drop on you without exercising a God given strategy.

Maybe it could be start a business, visit a certain place, make a gift to someone, do some physical work, God honours faith that has legs, make sure you do what He instructs because the danger is thinking that your works may get your blessing, no, it is doing His work, as instructed by Him, that’s gets His blessing.
