Over the weekend, LL COOL J returned to his hometown in Queens to host the closing ceremonies of the 15th Annual Jump & Ball Community Camp. LL was greeted by the more than 200 youth who participated in the month long camp and residents of the neighborhood where he grew up.

Launched in 2005 by LL COOL J, Jump & Ball is a free and fun-filled camp every Saturday & Sunday during the month of August for hundreds of kids from Southeast Queens. The program was developed as an opportunity for the kids in the community to not only learn the game of basketball but also learn team building and leadership skills critical to life off the court.

LL has always been an avid philanthropist involved in numerous causes including literacy for kids as well as music and arts programs in schools. Celebrating its 15th Anniversary this year, LL’s charity “Jump & Ball” – which takes place every August in his hometown of Queens, New York – aims to give back to his local community by offering a five-week athletic and team building program dedicated to bringing wholesome fun to young people.

The IABT / IABT Multisport Racing Youth & Junior
Tri-Conference® / Expo*Event is the 1st Youth and Junior
Tri-Conference in the world and the first one held on an Historically black college and university (HBCU) campus! This event is DOUBLY Historical in nature.

Currently there are over 500,000 triathletes in the world (as of August, 2016) however less than 1% of that population are African Americans. One of the reasons why the sport has not grown for black youth and those living in urban communities remains a lack of awareness that multisport events exists as well as the opportunity available in the multisport industry.

The goal of the Conference is to unveil a pipeline of missed opportunities for all, especially black youth and those living in urban communities regarding multisport events and the multisport industry.

The conference is a weekend extravaganza! The Conference & Expo will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018 on the campus of Morgan State University and then on Sunday, July 15, 2018, the Aquathon Splash N Dash Event plus 5K Run will take place in Dundalk, Maryland (YMCA).

The conference will consist of TRI Clinics and a Youth & Junior
Tri-Panel. Topic categories include but not limited to, Education, Health & Wellness, Workforce Development, Career & College Readiness, Personal Growth & Development and the Multisport Industry. The conference will feature five dual tracks, representing over 40 presentations on key topics for the advancement of those living in urban communities and black youth in the multisport industry and in life.

Ruth started Ruth’s Craft Shop at the age of 8.  With the same entrepreneurial spirit as her mom, she launched Ruth’s Craft Shop, where she sells uniquely decorated  clay pots with silk flowers,  handmade crocheted coasters and scarves.

Ruth Booker wants to send the message that you can start a business at any age. At a time when many youth are caving into peer pressure or facing many challenges, Ruth is gaining invaluable experience and skills that will stay with her for a lifetime.  She welcomes the opportunity to make a difference, and become an inspiration to other young entrepreneurs. By spreading hope and joy though her crafts, Ruth relays to other youth that God’s love is ever present, and that they too can get involved, get active, and start on their own journey to entrepreneurship.

What is “Camp Fit”

“Camp Fit” is a 12 week program designed to get kids in between the ages of 5-15 physically, mentally & spiritually fit!!

Students will attend during the summer 5 days a week from 8am-5pm

Once schools begins again in August for those last two weeks of Camp students will attend M-F from 4-6pm and Sat & Sun from 10am-3pm

Weekly activities will include: 1 on 1 personal training, group fitness classes like- kick boxing, zumba, circuit training & fitness boot camp, 1 on 1 life coaching sessions, nutrition counseling with meal plans set up, fitness hikes, self esteem building games, team sports games and more…
