Brazil Foreign Trade Statistics

Brazilian trade surplus hit $67 billion in 2017, the highest since Brazil foreign trade statistics began in 1989, data from the ministry of industry, trade and services (multi) showed Tuesday. The trade ministry said Brazil's trade surplus grew 40.5 percent in 2017. In 2016, Brazil's foreign trade surplus was 47.69 billion us dollars, which was then the highest in history.

 

In 2017, Brazil's exports and imports were $217.74 billion and $15.74 billion, respectively, up 18.5 percent and 10.5 percent from the previous year, according to the data.Brazil's trade and industry minister Marcos Pereira said that despite a record trade surplus in 2016, exports and imports fell 3.5 percent and 20 percent, respectively, from 2015. However, the trade ministry forecasts Brazil's trade surplus will fall to about $50bn in 2018 after two consecutive years of record highs.
