Q: If you could classify your music in a genre or number of genres what would it be?
Actually our genre could fit in several categories from Hip Hop, Rap, Pop and a little bit of R&B.

Q: If you could use a tagline of less than 20 words to describe your music and who you are what would it be?
We are old school hip hop rappers with a unique sound that makes us different and recognizable when you hear our music.  You could say we rap in an urban old school style Hip Hop/ Rap giving you a Miami sound with a New York hip hop edge.

Q: What is your musical background?
Well my Identical Twin brother & I started playing instruments (Drums & Guitar) at the age of eight years old.  From that point on we started composing beats, writing songs and performing in front of friends, family.  Also at the local malls in Washington, D.C. or where ever we could get a crowd to gather to watch us perform. We continue to perform, write and help in the production of our music as of today.

Q: How was 2010 for you?
We had a great year and a lot of new fans have joined the Twice the Hype Fan Nation. Our MP3’s sales have increased tremendously due to our continuing fan support in 2010. We have reached the top 40 on Itunes and now we are also being played on 750 + Radio stations including IHEARTRADIO.COM under indie artists.

Q: Who inspires you musically?
Ludacris is one rapper that we have been compared to by our fans even though we believe we have our own style of rapping, but no doubt Ludacris has inspired us to do what we do and we are truly honored to be compared to him.

Q: Which modern day artists do you look up to?
We believe we are all a part of the hip hop family and are a prodigy of each other’s owns talents and accomplishments.

Q: Is there anyone you would like to collaborate or gig with?
For right now we are chillin’ and finishing up on our new album. In the future we would like to team up with well known acts in the hip hop industry for an east coast tour.

Q: What is your creative process for creating a track?
Twice the Hype has always represented true life experiences to be a viable part of our lyrics and music. We are everyday people sharing everyday situations and want to share that with all our fans but with a positive outcome

t.gifQ: What’s more important, melody or lyrics?
We feel lyrics are the backbone to a success to a song in order to reach our fans. If our lyrics do not have a story with a meaning people will not relate to our song so when we write lyrics Twice the Hype writes songs people can say “Hey I can feel what they are saying or I have been through that”

Q: Where are you based?
We are based in Washington, DC metropolitan area and we represent the DMV artists in the area.

Q: What’s it like being where you’re from?
DC has a legacy of talent musicians and is known for its GO-GO roots. We have had a lot of support from local legendary artists from DC including Teddy Bear from E.U.

Q: What are you currently working on?
Twice the Hype is currently in the studio finishing up on our new album called “Drop Ya Drawers”. This album is a modern up tempo club hip hop mix that will give all our fans something to thirst for.

Q: What’s been the highlight of your career to date?
When we were featured on Washington, D.C.’s local radio station WPGC 95.5 Home Jams & Billboard Magazine.

Q: What are you hoping to achieve in 2011?
To establish ourselves as a well know Artist in the Hip Hop community and to be recognized for all our accomplishments.

Q: What do you do to relax?
Hanging out with other Indie Artist like ourselves and collaborating with our fans and friends.

Editor’s Note: Twice The Hype are a dynamic two-piece drawing on the old school hip-hop greats to create something that’s both memorable and current. When asked to describe their music they say “a Miami sound club mix, with a New York hip-hop edge”. Sounds spot on!
