Uses of HEA

2-Hydroxyethyl acrylate (HEA) is used to make acrylic resins containing active hydroxyl groups in the plastic industry. In the coating industry, it reacts with epoxy resin, diisocyanate, and melamine formaldehyde resin for the preparation of two-component coatings. In the grease industry, it is used as an additive for the washing of lubricating oils. In the electronics industry, it is used as the dehydration agent of electron microscopes. In the textile industry, it is used as an adhesive to make fabrics. It is used as a chemical reagent in analytical chemistry. In addition, it is also used in solid coating, fiber treatment agents, binders, photosensitive resin and medical polymer materials for the synthesis of medical polymer materials, thermosetting coatings and adhesives, etc.

 

Precautions of transportation and use

HEA is a toxic chemical. If Inhaled, it will bring a significant stimulative effect. The degree of skin irritation is lighter, but the eye damage is more serious. Operators should wear protective glasses.

 

 Avoid sunshine and be covered with thermal insulation material in the open place.

 Water should be avoided for it promotes the polymerization reaction of HEA.

 Storage period: half year at room temperature.

 Avoid collision during transporting and flush with clean water in case of spillage;

 HEA has an erosive effect on skin and mucous membranes. Rinse with water immediately after touch.

 

HEA should be packed in galvanized iron drums and stores in a cool, ventilated place. The storage warehouse should only be used for HEA, which should not be mixed with other items. Pay attention to fire. The polymerization inhibitor should be added before its storage and transportation.

 

HEA can be used as reactive diluents and crosslinkers in radiation curing systems and also be used as resin crosslinkers, plastics, and rubber modifiers.

 

Storage conditions

HEA should be stored in a cool place. Storage containers in a dark place and keep them closed. Keep them cool below 4 °C and avoid light.
