As far back as anyone can remember, First Baptist Church of Glenarden has always been committed to serving the community – which includes providing traditional Thanksgiving baskets to the less fortunate each year.
Resources to serve the community in this manner have gradually and steadily increased over the years, and the lines for baskets have grown longer and longer. Under the direction of Pastor John K. Jenkins Sr., in keeping with FBCG’s “double portion” theme for 2013, the church set out to to make a “double impact or greater” in the lives of those who would benefit from this ministry.
Every department and ministry was pulled into a churchwide collaboration. The goal was to create an impactful event that would eliminate long lines, put smiles on our guests’ faces and serve them in 20 minutes or less. Entertainment was provided for the children, while guests had the opportunity to receive ministry, health screenings and prayer.
The event was staffed by 1,500 volunteer

Camp Fit partners with Prince George’s County Public schools to give the gift of health and wellness to the community.
The Camp Fit Community Health Fair sponsored by Sistas United Inc. (www.Sistasunited.net) and Phiers.org (www.Phiers.org) is taking place on Saturday November 15th 11-2 pm inside at Longfields Elementary School 3300 Newkirk Ave, Forestville, MD.
The health fair will consist of free health screenings, fitness demonstrations, healthy snacks and smoothies, free fresh produce for the community, kids activities, various vendors and live entertainment.
