My name is Isabelle McClorin, I was born June 23,1955 and raised in Kingstree South Carolina. At the age of five, I started singing at my hometown church. (Church of God in True Holiness) I was singing on WDKD radio station at the age of twelve every Sunday morning with the Southern Jubilees in Kingstree, South Carolina. I moved to Boston Massachusetts at the age thirteen and competed in many talent shows (where I won first place) during school gatherings at the Dorchester High School in Boston, Massachusetts. At age fifteen I moved back to Kingstree South Carolina and continued singing on the radio. I started singing at concerts and was on programs with various gospel recording artists like The Mighty Clouds of Joy, Five Blind Boys of Mississippi and many others.
In 1975 at the age of twenty I moved back to Boston Massachusetts where I started singing in nightclubs. Then I moved to Providence Rhode Island where I continued to sing in nightclubs, then I left the nightclub life and started singing and going to the Camp Street Church. I then started to branch out and started singing with various churches and choirs, which provided me with a wonderful learning experience. This afforded me the opportunity in 1979 to participate in many programs at The Ebenezer Baptist Church, and attended gospel concerts in Providence at The United Methodist Church with the New York Community Choir as well as The Helen Holland Singers. and The Walter Hawkins Singers. David Hector was my sponsor and the sponsor for the whole program every year, I was the opening performer every year. For several years I performed in the gospel festival at The Providence Performing Arts Center, and I received from the City of Providence a Citizen Citation from the Mayor Vincent A. Cianci and also a write up in the Providence Newspaper for performing The Lord's Prayer. I also received various letters from P.J Prokop the director of The Providence Performing Arts Center for each year I performed. In 1994 as i was singing on various programs, I started making my demo with the help of Howard Jones and David Vierra who provided the music for me every year that I performed at the Rhode Island Black Heritage Society Emancipation Day Celebration at the Waterplace Park in downtown Providence up until 1999. I received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Emancipation Day Committee and various letters. I also performed at the NAACP concerts every year, I received a letter from the African Affairs Commission stating that I was voted to receive the 1999 Rhode Island Vision Award, On September 24,1999, I won the Rhode Island Vision Award. I also performed on the main stage with the Continental Youth Organization and was sponsored by The John Hope Settlement House.
I currently reside in Riverdale Maryland to be with my Family, I am a member of Refreshing Spring Church of God in Christ, Pastor by Elder James E. Jordan Jr. I remain very active as a soloist and choir member, I am proud to say I was invited to various churches in Maryland and in Washington D.C. I am proud to say that me and my husband Timothy Kimbrough have a CD project out called I “Wanna thank you lord, and currently working on our second CD and helping Morningstar Church of Christ pastored by Samuel Olabosipo. and still going out ministering at various churches and events.
