Hello, my name is Margaret, and I am one of the licensed clinical pastoral counselors here at LifeQuest. I have a question for you. Is it ok for people of faith to seek counseling; do people of faith deal with depression and/or anxiety or any other mental health or traumatic life issue? Believe it or not many people of faith feel that it is a sign of weakness, or that a person has little to no faith if they are dealing with mental or behavioral health issues.
Because of this view concerning mental health, many are left to suffer in silence. Others are needlessly stuck in the debilitating symptoms of mental health issues and are prevented from living fulfilling and rewarding lives.
Furthermore, symptoms can at the very least hinder, and at worst prevent one from hearing and receiving from God, a very necessary part of being in relationship with Him and needed to fulfill one’s own unique God given plan and purpose in life.
Today is the day to reach out for help if you are dealing with a mental/behavioral health issue. It is okay to ask for help when you need it! Please let me know if I can answer any questions you may have at lifequestccs.com
