The South Florida Gospel Music Awards was founded in August 2004 by Mr. Peppi Hendrix. Then known as the Palm Beach Gospel Music Awards, Peppi's vision was to promote the level of visibility of gospel music and artist in the greater Palm Beach area. Having seen wisdom to dream even bigger dreams, the Palm Beach Gospel Music Awards (PBGMA) was renamed the South Florida Gospel Music Awards (SFGMA) to encompass all of the Southeastern United States & Caribbean Islands. The South Florida Gospel Music Awards is the largest independent gospel music awards program within the Southeastern US & Caribbean Islands. We are now making plans to make the SFGMA Awards national. Founded by Peppi Hendrix in 2004, the South Florida Gospel Music Awards has seen tremendous growth and development since its inception. The South Florida gospel community has rallied around this most worthy cause. The Awards has boasted such corporate sponsorships as State Farm Insurance, Christian Business Pages, and Geffen Records just to name a few. Many popular national and local gospel figures have graced our stage either as presenters and/or performers. Such artist as #1 Jimmy Hicks & the VOI, Rawsrvnt, Redeem, The Chenaniah Praise Dancers, LaNorris McFadden & PROOF, Terrion Nelson, Professor Stephen English of the Miami Mass Choir, Raymel Menefee (V.P. of Urban Artist for Geffen Record), Andre Montell (Amir Records), Promoter Jimmy Bo Horne, Debrah Hall (Founder-South Florida Gospel News & Senior Publicist for the Barome Agency), James Smith & Nu Birth, Darlene Spence, and Wille Smith & Hopewell Baptist Church Choir, are just a few. There have also been several dignitaries that have graced our stage as Riviera Beach Mayor Thomas Masters, FL. State Rep. Priscilla Taylor, Palm Beach County Commissioner Addie Greene, FL. State Senator Mandy Dawson, and many others. Such gospel radio industry personalities as Frsicoe (B106.3 FM), Bro Jo Riley (WMBM-Miami), Pastor Lydia Goodin (WMBM-Miami/Florida Gospel Announcer’s Guild State President) and late great Palm Beach’s Sanford Ward have graced us with their presence. We are expecting many gospel announcers’ and record executives once again at this year’s festivities. This year 2011 promises to be an explosive year for the 2011 SFGMA Awards. We have transitioned the awards into an entire weekend full of concerts, seminars, and workshops. The dates for the SFGMA Awards weekend are November 5-6, 2011. We will begin our with our 2011 Kick Off Celebration featuring a national recording artist. Saturday will feature a VIP Brunch and a day of seminars and workshops.
