A YOUTH CONFERENCE BUILT ON CHRIST This weekend is about helping our students understand who they are in the family of Christ, and to help them live a life for Christ, to be imitators of Christ, to be The Salt and Light for this world. We want our young people to know that they are not alone and powerless as they live out each day of their lives. As believers, we have the promise of power. This year’s tag line for Momentum ‘10 is “MAKE A DIFFERENCE”. We want our students to be able to make a difference in the lives of the people they come in contact with on a daily basis. Have you every stopped and wondered what you are suppose to do with your life. I bet you have been asked this question a thousand times, "What are you going to do when you grow up or what are you going to do with your life?" We don’t have the answer for you that is the one thing you will have to discover for yourself along with following Gods leading. We can tell you however, that God wants you to Make A Difference in the lives around you. In the parable of the Good Samaritan, Jesus is sharing that we should be concerned for our neighbor. Our neighbor is ANYONE that we come in contact with as we go about our day. If you read this passage you will see that 3 different men passed by our wounded traveler who was beaten and stripped of his clothing and left for dead. Only one of the men stopped to help him and in helping the Good Samaritan went the extra mile to Make A Difference. The Bible says, “So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, 'Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.” Luke 10: 34-35 Take a look at a couple of things; the Samaritan was prepared to Make A Difference, He had Bandages and Oil and was ready to use them. He went the extra mile by using his own money to make sure the wounded traveler was taken care of and told the inn keeper that he would come back and pay the difference if needed. A perfect example of Making A Difference in someone’s life. Jesus did that very same thing for us by giving His life for us, He went the extra mile. I believe He expects the same from us. Take a look around and see where you can Make a Difference, you will be surprised that you don’t have to look far. Momentum is about equipping our young people to do ministry wherever they go, that’s what Jesus’ Great Commission is all about. We want to encourage all our young people to not be afraid of calling themselves Christians; to take a stand for Christ with their lives. As in the book of Daniel, our world needs young people like Daniel and his friends, four young people standing firm in their beliefs to affect a nation. Our students can accomplish this same feat and we hope that this year’s Momentum will encourage and inspire the young people of Burke County and the surrounding areas to “MAKE A DIFFERENCE” for Christ.
