Gospel Musicians Summit (GMS) is an organization designed to encourage and provide high quality training for musicians and engineers so they can reach or maintain an industry standard of professionalism in music and production. It is the collaborative effort of Cirqlar LLC and ShowMeThat.com. These two entities realize that, although many churches today can boast state of the art musical instruments, multimedia and other technological equipment, in many instances their staff still functions below professional standards. GMS seeks to resolve this disparity by providing training for church and ministry volunteers and professionals, making them competitive in an ever-evolving technological marketplace. This will in turn improve the quality of service in their local ministry. On March 20, 2010, the first Gospel Musicians Summit was held in the Bronx, NY. Present at this event were renowned producer Aaron Lindsey, sound engineer Danny Duncan, drummer Larrone ‘Skeeter’ McMillian, guitarist Chris Morgan, organist PJ Morgan, bass player Reggie Young, and vocal instructor and singer Demetrius Griffin, among others. There was also a surprise guest appearance by artist Israel Haughton who participated in Aaron Lindsey’s session on keyboards/production. The day ended with a noncompetitive ‘music shed’ featuring most of the guest facilitators. By the end of the event, it became clear that more such events were desired; it also became clear that more groups or coalitions focusing on Gospel/Christian musicians were needed. It is with this in mind that we present GMS 2010 - the Fall Edition.
