CANCER AWARENESS GALA“Reflections of HOPE”ABC Wellness & Fitness Center is pleased to announce its FIRST ANNUAL CANCER AWARENESS GALA being held Saturday, December 18, 2010 from 7pm – 11pm at the National Golf Club in Fort Washington, Maryland.ABC Wellness & Fitness Center is sponsoring its First Annual 2010 Cancer Awareness Gala theme “Reflections of HOPE.” Our goal is to provide the awareness of the various forms of cancer through knowledge and support. This vision manifested because we have noticed that we were surrounded by so many people that have had some type of encounter with cancer rather they were diagnosed with cancer, currently receiving treatment, a survivor, or have a loved one seeking HOPE. ABC Wellness & Fitness Center decided that it is time to bring awareness to cancer, but not just breast cancer because there are so many other forms of cancer that people are fighting against. We are HOPING that with knowledge and support – we can look in the mirror with the reflection of HOPE looking back.THE FACTS*The American Cancer Society estimates that in 2010 about 171,000 cancer deaths are expected to be caused by tobacco use. About 1.5 Million new cases are expected in 2010. Scientific evidence suggests that one-third of the 570,000 cancer deaths expected to occur in 2010 will be related to overweight or obesity, physical inactivity, and poor nutrition and thus could also be prevented.PURPOSE OF THE GALAWe plan to give HOPE (gifts) to those in attendance who are survivors, caretakers, and currently receiving treatment. Also, we plan to donate over proceeds to “Zero Prostate Cancer” a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is an advocate for prostate cancer deaths. Their name conveys what they stand for zero tolerance for prostate cancer. As ZERO - The Project to End Prostate Cancer, they have committed themselves not only to reduce prostate cancer or alleviate the pain from the disease but to end it.
