On January 27 and 28, 2012, the BraveHearts Family Conference will debut at Immanuel Bible Church in Springfield, VA. This will also mark a milestone for BraveHearts and its founder and CEO Michael Leahy as he kicks off his 10th year in full-time ministry. This time he will be joined on stage by his wife Christine, founder and CEO of Women Stand Up!, a ministry that’s helping women face their fears and repurpose their hearts for the cause of Christ.
This conference is the first of its kind in bringing together mothers and fathers, sons and daughters, single adults, church and ministry leaders, all for the purpose of helping to restore sexual integrity and personal purity in the church and families.
Also unprecedented is the number of Immanuel Bible Church ministries that are actively involved in co-sponsoring and resourcing this conference, including the Care and Counseling Ministry, Women’s Ministry, Men’s Ministry, Youth Ministry, Immanuel Christian School, Marriage and Family Ministry, Adult Ministries, Community Outreach, and the Bookstore.
On Friday night, the focus is on raising awareness about how the increased sexualization of our culture is affecting us as individuals and in our relationships with others. These sessions are suitable for middle school and high school students accompanied by their parents. Single adults, church and ministry leaders are also strongly encouraged to attend.
On Saturday morning, the focus will shift from raising awareness to training and educating the parents and adults (you’ll need to be 18 or older to attend Saturday’s sessions). Training will range from “How to protect and prepare your children to face the battle for sexual purity” to “how to forgive, help and rebuild trust with those who struggle with sexual purity.” Each person attending Saturday’s sessions will also receive a comprehensive resource guide.
This conference is the first step in an ongoing partnership between BraveHearts and Immanuel Bible Church as the two organizations work together to help turn the tide against what is widely considered to be a growing epidemic of sexual sin and brokenness facing the church today.
