😩 What if some of your exhaustion isn’t coming from everything you have to do—but from everything you’re trying to CONTROL?
The Bible tells us about two sisters, Martha and Mary, who responded very differently when Jesus came to their home.
Martha was busy serving. 🍽️
Mary sat at Jesus’ feet and listened. 🙏
Martha wasn’t doing something bad. She was handling responsibilities.
But Scripture says:
📖 “Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one.” — Luke 10:41–42
Martha became so distracted that she stopped focusing on Jesus and started focusing on what Mary was—or wasn’t—doing.
Sound familiar?
Sometimes we're exhausted because we're trying to manage:
👥 Other people's decisions
💬 What people think about us
📱 What someone said online
❤️ Someone else's behavior
💼 Outcomes we cannot guarantee
🌎 Circumstances beyond our control
🔮 Problems that haven't even happened yet
You can influence some things. You can pray about everything. But you cannot control everything.
And trying to do so can steal the peace you have right now.
Mary chose differently.
While everything else demanded attention, she chose the presence of Jesus.
Maybe that's your Bible Life Lesson today:
🙏 Stop trying to control what belongs in God's hands.
Identify what you can responsibly do—and do it faithfully.
Then release the outcome.
You don't have to fix everyone.
You don't have to manage everyone's response.
You don't have to solve tomorrow today.
And you don't have to carry responsibilities God never gave you.

Biblical Wisdom on the Present
- Focus on Today: Jesus teaches in Matthew 6:34 not to worry about tomorrow, because each day has enough trouble of its own. Worry and distractions pull your mind away from the grace available today.
- The Example of Mary: In Luke 10:42, Jesus tells Martha that only "one thing is necessary". Mary chose to sit at Jesus' feet in the present moment rather than get overwhelmed by many tasks.
- Direct Your Gaze: Proverbs 4:25 instructs you to let your eyes look straight ahead and fix your gaze directly before you.
Steps to Overcome Distractions
- Acknowledge Today's Blessings: Thank God for the specific people, tasks, and quiet moments in front of you right now.
- Practice-Minute Prayers: Turn wandering thoughts into short prayers for whoever or whatever crosses your mind.
- Release the Past and Future: Accept that you cannot change yesterday and you do not yet own tomorrow. God only supplies grace for the current step.
