Bible Study - What do you think Jesus had taught?

What do you think Jesus had taught? Share your thoughts?

While Jesus was on the earth, Jesus taught the way to be happy, find peace, and return to live with God. His gospel still applies today. If you follow Jesus by using what he taught, your life will be more joyful and full of meaning.
12964258061?profile=RESIZE_710xJesus began his ministry by calling four fishermen to follow him—to journey with him, share his meals, hear his teaching, and see him heal sick people and free those with unclean spirits. Jesus started with these four disciples. Then he gathered together a community of followers. The Church today is still the community of Jesus’ followers. Even though the Church is huge and universal, it is still a community made up of people who journey together, talk together, eat together, and learn from one another.

The Church continues to follow Jesus and to invite others—people of every race and every nation—to follow Jesus by becoming part of this wonderful community of faith.

The importance of always reading the Bible for yourself!

Jesus taught many things, including:

Love your enemies: Jesus taught to love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. Forgive: Jesus taught that his disciples should forgive those who sin against them. He said, “if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses” (Matt 6:15). Love God: Jesus taught that we should love the Lord God with all our heart, all our soul, and all our mind. Judging others: Jesus taught against a specific kind of judging, which is a blind, ignorant, hypocritical, self-righteous judging that overlooks one's own faults and only sees faults in other people.
Keeping God's commandments: Jesus taught that we show love to God by keeping the commandments of God.

Salt and light: Jesus taught that Christians are the salt of the earth and the light of the world.
Prayer: Jesus taught about prayer in Matthew 6, including the "Lord's Prayer"

The Beatitudes: Jesus taught the Beatitudes in the Sermon on the Mount, which outlined how to be a righteous disciple.
Parable of the Unforgiving Servant: Jesus taught the Parable of the Unforgiving Servant in the Gospel of Matthew to teach his followers about forgiveness.

Here are 5 Teachings of Jesus that will Improve Your Life.

#1: Love God and your neighbor: When asked which commandment was the most important, Jesus said, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself” (Matthew 22:37–39).

When you replace hate with love, and anger with kindness, you’ll feel closer to God and notice more peace in your life.

#2: Live the Golden Rule: Jesus taught the Golden Rule during His Sermon on the Mount: “Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them” (Matthew 7:12). In other words, treat others the way you want to be treated. As you do so, you will strengthen your relationships and be happier.

#3: Have faith in Jesus ChristIn John 3:16 we read, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Having faith in Jesus Christ means believing in Him and His teachings. Doing so will bless you in this life and in the life to come.

#4: Communicate sincerely with God: Jesus taught by example that we should pray to God, our Heavenly Father, often. God loves you. He stands ready to help you. Communicate with Him through prayer, express gratitude, and ask for things you need.

#5: Freely forgiveWhile Jesus was on the earth, Peter asked Him, “Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him?” Jesus responded, “I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven” (Matthew 18:21–22). When we freely offer forgiveness to others, we can invite more peace and forgiveness into our own lives.

Jesus taught in fields, along roads, in boats, and in gardens. He often took his disciples on journeys to facilitate teachable moments. The most famous preaching of Jesus was the Sermon on the Mount Gospel of Matthew (chapters 5, 6, and 7)

The Lord's Prayer (Traditional)

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from the evil one.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.
