*The Real Thing*
1 Thessalonians 5:23 says, “Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Man is a spirit being, a divine person possessed of spirit, soul, and body. The real thing about man is not his body but his spirit and the first place we are to prosper is our spiritual life. The sure way to spiritual maturity is to hear and obey the Word of God continually. In John 14:26, the Lord Jesus Christ informed us about the person of the Holy Spirit and His role in our lives. There must be a corresponding power to do anything of God and the Holy Spirit gives us that power.
The Holy Spirit is a Divine person, and He is obtained as a gift from God upon repentance and baptism. Repentance is being deeply sorry for sin, being committed to a new way of life—from unrighteousness to righteousness. Repentance is the only hope of receiving God’s mercy and the Holy Spirit is the only means of growth in our Christian life. Our attitude and conduct will not change until the Holy Spirit gives birth in us a picture of what He is looking at when He sees us. He sees a person in the image of God, a person created to succeed, prosper and multiply. Only the Spirit of Christ can set us free from a life of meaningless activities, so take care of your heart, which is the real thing about you.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, come into my heart and help me to know You more, in Jesus’ name! Amen!
