Short Film Grants

1. NYC Women’s Fund for Media, Music and Theatre Grant - The NYC Women’s Fund for Media, Music and Theatre provides grants to encourage and support the creation of digital, film, music, and live or online theatre content that reflects the voices and perspectives of all who identify as women. Applications Close: November 1, 2023, 11:59 PM ET. 2. Roy W. Dean Grants and Carole Dorothy Joyce Grant
Now entering its fourth decade, the Roy W. Dean Grants fund independent feature films, documentaries, web series, and short films with budgets of $500,000 or less that are unique and make a contribution to society that, without its help, might otherwise never get made.

There are four Roy W. Dean Film Grants available each year. Three are for documentaries, narrative features, web series, and short films. One for Spring, Summer, and Fall. In addition, the Roy W. The new Carole Dorothy Joyce Grant for Student Filmmakers is now accepting submissions. Films should be budgeted at under $50,000 and need to be unique and make a contribution to society. 3. Ford Foundation Grant - Funding to fight inequality. Advancing justice starts with supporting the individuals and institutions working tirelessly to address the underlying drivers of inequality. 4. Short Scripts Grant OpportunitiesOur Short Film Fund offers an opportunity for emerging screenwriters and filmmakers to have their short films financed and produced, and create a calling card to help them progress in the industry as a writer or writer/director. We will finance and produce two short films in 2023. Previous winners of our Short Film Fund have gone on to write and direct for Netflix, Amazon Prime, BBC, AMC, NBC, HULU, and others. 5. Film Independent Grants & Awards - Film Independent Grants & Awards allow filmmakers to advance their current projects and help recognize professional accomplishments in independent film. 6. State of New Jersey Department of State Grant Opportunities - General Operating Support (GOS) grants provide annual support for the overall operations of organizations with missions exclusively devoted to the arts and which meet the Council’s eligibility criteria. GOS grants are typically awarded with a three-year commitment, subject to contract stipulations, and available funds which are contingent upon, in part, the passage of the state budget for the grant cycle. 8. The Jerome Foundation, founded in 1964 by artist and philanthropist Jerome Hill (1905-1972), honors his legacy through multi-year grants to support the creation, development, and presentation of new works by early career artists. The Foundation makes grants to vocational early career artists, and those nonprofit arts organizations that serve them, in all disciplines in the state of Minnesota and the five boroughs of New York City. 12. NFPF Grants - The NFPF helps archives, historical societies, libraries, museums, and universities preserve and make available American films that are not likely to survive without public support. Since 1998, we have provided preservation resources to 337 organizations in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. Films preserved through our programs are used in education and seen widely through screenings, exhibits, DVDs, television broadcasts, and the Internet. 13. The SFFILM Rainin Grant program is the largest granting body for independent narrative feature films in the US. Grants support films that address social justice issues—the distribution of wealth, opportunities, and privileges—in a positive and meaningful way through plot, character, theme, or setting and benefit the Bay Area filmmaking community in a professional and economic capacity. ARRAY Grants ARRAY Alliance works to amplify the work of underrepresented filmmakers, provide a platform for their films, and cultivate highly engaged and enthused audiences who are hungry for new, more reflective images on screen. The ARRAY Grants initiative encourages people of extraordinary ability to pursue their own creative and professional inclinations with an eye toward storytelling that expands antiquated, homogenous narratives to become more inclusive of communities, perspectives, and experiences from all walks of life. Each year, unrestricted grants are awarded to the most talented artists, activists, and film festivals/screening series with the hope that each recipient will advance their expertise, tackle bold new initiatives, foster dialogue that helps heal past wrongs, and encourage audiences to see that there is more that unites us as people than divides. 17. Creative Capital provides grants of up to $50,000 to individual artists to support the creation of groundbreaking new projects. The new application process comprises only 6 short questions (reduced from 40 questions).
