Puffin’s 2022 Annual Artist Grant Programs
The Puffin Foundation Ltd. has sought to open the doors of artistic expression by providing grants to artists and art organizations who are often excluded from mainstream opportunities due to their race, gender, or social philosophy.

The Derwent Global Art Prize and Exhibition Opportunity
Derwent, the internationally renowned fine art brand, is proud to announce that the sixth installment of the Derwent Art Prize is now open for entries. The Derwent Global Art Prize aims to reward excellence by showcasing the very best 2D & 3D artworks created in pencil or colored pencil as well as water-soluble, pastel, graphite, and charcoal. Shortlisted artists will exhibit their work at Gallery@OXO in central London from 24 February – 6 March 2022. In addition, all the First and Second prize winners will receive a special box of Derwent Lightfast Pencils. Right of Return USA Fellowship
This fellowship program supports formerly incarcerated artists in the creation of original works. Six artists will be awarded a grant of $20,000 each to support a project aimed at reforming our criminal justice system. Right of Return Co-Chairs Jesse Krimes and Russell Craig and The Soze Agency are proud to announce the fourth year of the Right of Return USA Fellowship, generously funded by the Mellon Foundation, the Art for Justice Fund, and Open Philanthropy. The fellowship program will continue to invest in formerly incarcerated artists, supporting the creation of original works produced in partnership with advocates and organizers to further criminal justice reform efforts. The Gottlieb Foundation Individual Support Grant
The Foundation wishes to encourage artists who have dedicated their lives to developing their art, regardless of their level of commercial success. Please note that these grants are available only to mature individual visual artists. The Foundation defines maturity in this case as having worked for 20 years or more in a mature phase of art.
The Gottlieb Foundation does not fund organizations, educational institutions, students, graphic artists, or those working in crafts. The disciplines of photography, film, video or related forms are not eligible unless the work directly involves, or can be interpreted as, painting or sculpture. The Foundation does not fund exhibitions, installations, or projects of any kind.

Artist Grant
Founded in 2017, Artist Grant is a new venture that aims to support and fund artists. To that end, this charitable organization funds the efforts of artists to continue their important work and contributions to society, providing a modest competitive grant of $500 to one artist every quarter.

BBA Artist Prize 2022
Applications are now open. The BBA Artist Prize 2022 awards international artists irrespective of their background with several Prizes incl. a solo show, cash prizes, and much more. The competition includes a group exhibition of the shortlisted artists at the iconic Kühlhaus Berlin, one of the city’s most favored venues for arts and culture events. The exhibition and the announcement of the Prize winners will happen in April 2022. The BBA Artist Prize is a major event for contemporary art in Berlin.
A jury of experts debates the entries and ensures an unbiased evaluation and high-quality standard. The 1st, 2nd, 3rd Prize, and the Audience Award are awarding artists for their visual excellence, storytelling, conceptual thinking, technical craftsmanship, and subject depth over a series of works. NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship
The NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship is a $7,000 unrestricted cash grant available to artists living in New York State and/or one of the Indian Nations located therein.
This grant is awarded in fifteen different disciplines over a three-year period (five categories a year) and the application is free to complete. The NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship is not a project grant but is intended to fund an artist’s vision or voice, at all levels of their artistic development.

The Virginia A. Groot Foundation established the Virginia A. Groot Foundation Grant in 1988 so that a ceramic sculpture or sculpture artist may have the opportunity to devote a substantial period of time to the development of his or her work.
Eligibility: Each year the Virginia A. Groot Foundation offers grants to artists who have exceptional talent and demonstrated ability in ceramic sculpture or sculpture. WSW’ Right Now! Production Grants
Right Now! Production Grants are opportunities for artists to produce a publication that is reflective of current events and can be generated and disseminated quickly. WSW seeks projects of broad scope, from zines and chapbooks to button sets, poster prints, and other imaginative ephemera. Established as part of Lee Krasner’s legacy, the Pollock Krasner Foundation Grant was set up to support and strengthen the creative lives of artists. A competitive grant for artists with extensive exhibition records, this grant has a long list of impressive alumni. Since its start in 1985, the foundation has granted over 65 million dollars in award money to artists in over 77 countries.

WHO: Mid-career professional artists with demonstrable financial need. Artists must be actively exhibiting their current work in professional artistic venues, such as gallery and museum spaces; Painters, sculptors, and artists who work on paper, including printmaking.

Rauschenberg Emergency Grant
The Robert Rauschenberg Foundation is partnering with New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) to administer the Rauschenberg Emergency Grants, an emergency grant program that provides one-time grants of up to $5,000 for medical or dental emergencies. The grants are available to visual and media artists, and choreographers living anywhere in the United States or U.S. Territories. This program was established in the tradition of the artist's Change, Inc., a non-profit foundation established in 1970 by Robert Rauschenberg to assist professional artists of all disciplines in need of emergency medical aid.

Foundation for Contemporary Arts Emergency Grant
Created in 1993 to further FCA's mission to encourage, sponsor, and promote work of a contemporary, experimental nature, Emergency Grants provide urgent funding for visual and performing artists who:
- Have sudden, unanticipated opportunities to present their work to the public when there is insufficient time to seek other sources of funding
- Incur unexpected or unbudgeted expenses for projects close to completion with committed exhibition or performance dates
Emergency Grants is the only active, multi-disciplinary program that offers immediate assistance of this kind to artists living and working anywhere in the United States, for projects occurring in the U.S. and abroad.
Each month FCA receives an average of 95 Emergency Grant applications and makes approximately 12-15 grants. Grants range in amount from $500 to $3,000, and the average grant is now $1,700.

The Adolph & Esther Gottlieb Emergency Grant
The Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Emergency Grant program is intended to provide interim financial assistance to qualified painters, printmakers, and sculptors whose needs are the result of an unforeseen, catastrophic incident, and who lack the resources to meet that situation. Each grant is given as one-time assistance for a specific emergency, examples of which are fire, flood, or emergency medical needs.

Artists' Charitable Fund
Colorado-based Artists' Charitable Fund assists painters and sculptors living anywhere in the United States by paying a portion of their medical/dental/eye-care bills. For example, the Fund has purchased a wheelchair, paid for eye surgery, provided funding for an artificial leg, paid partial medical expenses of several artists who have cancer, as well as other needs for medical assistance.

Awesome Foundation Grant
A micro-granting organization, funding “awesome” ideas, The Awesome Foundation set up local chapters around the world to provide rolling grants of $1000 to “awesome projects.” Each chapter defines what is “awesome” for their local community, but most include arts initiatives and public or social practice art projects.

The Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant
The Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation grant is one of the most prestigious grants available to emerging figurative artists, as well as one of the most substantial. It is one of the longest-standing foundations, with an illustrious history of recipients spanning more than half a century. It is also unique in its scope, in that it is available to students and artists around the world.

WHO: Young artists pursuing their studies or in the early or developmental stage of their career.
AMOUNT: First grants are in the amount of CAD $15,000 each, and subsequent grants are in the amount of CAD $18,000 each (maximum three grants).
FINE PRINT: The Foundation does not provide funding for the pursuit of abstract or non-objective art. Grants are intended to assist applicants in the study or practice of their art, and the costs associated therewith, such as tuition, studio rental, model fees, travel, and living expenses. Eligible courses of study or training include undergraduate, graduate, or post-graduate studies and diploma programs from accredited institutions, recognized residencies, apprenticeships/internships, and studio training. Grants are not intended as work or project grants for more experienced or mature artists.

The Lillian Orlowsky and William Freed Grant
The Lillian Orlowsky and William Freed Grant is awarded annually to under-recognized American painters over the age of 45 who demonstrate financial need. WHO: US Painters 45-years old or older in need of financial support. For the purposes of this grant, painting is considered the application of various media (oil, acrylic, gouache, ink, tempera, watercolor, egg tempera, casein, enamel) on paper, canvas, fabric, or wood. This includes fresco. This excludes mixed media, encaustic, collage, dry pastels, chalk, digital paintings, prints, and work in graphite or drawings.
Betty Bowen Award
Administered by the Seattle Art Museum, the annual Betty Bowen Award honors a Northwest artist for their original, exceptional, and compelling work. The winner is awarded an unrestricted cash prize of $15,000, and a selection of his or her works is shown at the Seattle Art Museum in the spring. In addition, up to two Special Recognition Awards in the amount of $2,500 are often granted at the discretion of the Betty Bowen Committee.

Smack Mellon Studio Program Open Call
This program provides free studio space, access to a workshop for metal, wood and general fabrication, a common area equipped with the latest technology, and a fellowship (dependent on funding) to six artists in New York City for an eleven-month period. Each year, Smack Mellon convenes a panel of arts professionals to select the six Studio Artists from over 600 applicants.

The Ark Project
The Ark Project is a biennial international artist residency program realized in 2015 with a focus on the creation, presentation, and documentation of contemporary art that engages discovery, transformation, and innovation. The program's mission is to explore the intersection of nature, art, and consciousness through visual art to create structures that allow for an evolution of harmony and connection with the natural world.
The Ark is a symbol of hope in a fast-changing world in need of connection, collaboration, and a meeting of the mind and spirit with nature. Our intention is to create synergy and community to cultivate growth and symbiosis through art.
The Project is open to both national and international artists. Artists are selected according to performance, experience and artistic background. Eligible artists must have a BFA, MFA, or equivalent in independent studio work. Artists working in the visual arts and new media will be considered.

HALEAKALĀ NATIONAL PARK Artist in Residence
While Maui is justly famed for its coastline beaches and resorts, humpback whales, surfing and snorkeling, it is also a gem of biodiversity and watersheds that span the entire island. But at the center of it is Haleakalā National Park, a dormant volcanic erosional valley that is also a cultural treasure for the Hawaiian people. The park’s landscapes are unique and beautiful in their unique color and textures — and the park is also a perfect place for watching the night skies blaze out as well as the legendary sunrises over the Pacific from the summit of Haleakalā. NPAF’s past artists in residence include Astrophotographer Stan Honda, Landscape Pianist Hunter Noack, among others.

Woodland Farm Artist Residency
Woodland Farm Artist Residency is situated on the beautiful Salt Spring Island, on the west coast of Canada – the unceded territories of the Hul’qumi’num and SENĆOŦEN speaking peoples. BLKSPACE
Led by an all Black woman team, Interfest (Kristen Adele Calhoun and Nikki Vera) will curate BLKSPACE: two consecutive, weeklong residencies— August 29 to September 3 and September 5 to September 10— for Black creatives to use the full resources of SPACE on Ryder Farm however they see fit. To create a welcoming environment for residents, each week will feature an entirely Black residency staff and curated visual art throughout the living and working spaces. BLKSPACE seeks to simultaneously provide an expansive dreaming space for the individual and a collective practice ground for Black liberation.
BLKSPACE provides Black individual artists, activists, organizers and small groups (up to 4 people) the opportunity to create and ideate away from the stress and noise of everyday life and in the company of other Black people.
