MISSION

To support and advance the wellness and beauty of women of color through entrepreneurship, advocacy and education.

THE NEED FOR CHANGE

One in Five Americans identifies as a woman of color in the United States, comprising over 20% of the current population. By 2060, women of color will be the majority of all women in America. (Catalyst. 2021)

Yet, despite our growing numbers, our most basic wellness needs are most often ignored by policymakers and we experience funding inequities from federal agencies and key stakeholders.

The BROWN GIRL Jane Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit that aims to bring about change through civic engagement, policy activism and research and education to ultimately create national and local public policies that address our most critical health and beauty concerns.

We know this can be done as women of color, particularly Black women, have always historically been the backbone of transformational social movements that have helped bring equity to Black and Brown underserved communities. Our goal is to help create policies that will support women of color in both their personal and professional lives, now and for generations to come.

THE FOUNDATION WILL ADVOCATE FOR POLICY IMPACTING THE WELL-BEING OF WOMEN OF COLOR IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:

LEGISLATION

Legislative initiatives aimed at improving equity health access and to end corporate discriminatory behavior and policies targeting women of color.

RESEARCH

The Foundation supports innovative research intended to help identify solutions on health issues disproportionately affecting women of color, including stress, chronic pain, maternal health, sleep deprivation.

FUNDING

The BROWN GIRL JANE Foundation funds women of color beauty and wellness entrepreneurs creating disruptive products designed to advance the well-bring of our community. To date, we have granted over $405,000 in partnership with Shea Moisture and Vaseline.

Available Funding: $10,000-$25,000 Deadline: September 6th
