About Bishop William F. Hart Jr.

Bishop William F. Hart, a distinguished veteran, served over two decades in the United States Armed Forces and later had a remarkable 29-year career with the U.S. Department of Interior. Answering a spiritual calling, he founded Christian Tabernacle Church of God (CTC) after pastoring Victory Church of God in Buffalo, NY.

Elevated to Bishop in 1993, Bishop Hart led Christian Tabernacle with joy. Notably, he appointed his son, Elder Kevin T. Hart Sr., as Interim Pastor on October 29, 2010. In Bishop Hart's teenage years, he was a founding member of the "Hart Singers," a gospel group that broke down barriers and ministered to diverse audiences, including performances at the Apollo Theater.

Raised in the DC Public School system, Bishop Hart's legacy extends beyond his ministries. The City of Washington, DC, recognized his impact by designating the 1000 block of V Street as Bishop William F. Hart Jr. Way and declaring July 17th as Bishop William F. Hart Jr. Day in Washington, D.C. His early exposure to ministry and education shaped his spiritual journey, leaving a lasting impact on those he touched and the communities he served.
