SCHOLARSHIPS
The scholarship application for the 2023-2024 school year opens on December 12, 2022 and closes on February 6, 2023. During that time, submit your application here or at the button below.
Arlington Community Foundation has a well-established Annual Scholarship Program that in 2022 awarded nearly $600,000 in college scholarships to 92 new students, with a total of 203 recipients including renewal scholarships. In the past decade, Arlington Community Foundation has awarded more than $5 million to Arlington students attending college. Generous individuals, families, companies and organizations fund the scholarships, which have their own unique eligibility criteria. Scholarships with Academic Requirements
Marjorie D. Buynak Scholarship (4 at up to $5,000; valued at up to $20,000) for high school seniors who are Arlington residents with at least a 3.0 GPA to attend an accredited postsecondary institution. FN/R
Charles M. and Elizabeth S. Munnecke Scholarship (4 at up to $5,000; valued up to $20,000) for high school seniors who are Arlington residents, who have attended an Arlington Public High School during their junior and senior years, to attend an accredited postsecondary institution. FN/R
Arlington’s Future Scholarship (2 at $2,000; valued at up to $8,000) for APS high school seniors who currently reside in committed affordable housing, as defined by the Arlington County Housing Division, to attend an accredited postsecondary institution. Preference will be given to students with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. FN/R
Arlington Women’s Civic Alliance Scholarship (2 at $2,000; valued at up to $8,000) for a woman who is a resident of Arlington or who is a graduate of APS, to attend NOVA. Can be renewed up to three times at either NOVA or a 4-year school. Requires a minimum GPA of 3.0. R
Community Scholarship ($1,500 each) for previous recipients of ACF Scholarships, who remain in good academic standing at their undergraduate accredited postsecondary institutions and other scholarships for high school seniors as annually determined. FN
Frank K. Wilson Scholarship (1 at $1,000) for an APS high school senior who has had an Individualized Education Plan and plans to attend an accredited postsecondary institution. FN
Warren G. Stambaugh Memorial Foundation Scholarship (1 at $2,000; valued at up to $8,000) for an APS high school senior who has had an Individualized Education Plan and plans to attend an accredited postsecondary institution. R
Tony Young Memorial Scholarship (1 at $2,500; valued at up to $10,000) for an APS high school graduate, or an Arlington resident with high school equivalent degree (ex: GED). To be eligible for this scholarship, the student must have a physical, cognitive or sensory disability. FN/R
Gail Nuckols Memorial Scholarship (1 at $1,000) for an Arlington public high school senior who has a B average and plans to attend a 4 year college or university. FN
Kar F. Gong Memorial Scholarship (1 at $2,000; valued at up to $8,000) for an Arlington senior on free or reduced lunch (prior to COVID-19) or who currently resides in committed affordable housing, as defined by the Arlington County Housing division. FN/R
Jackisch Scholarship (1 at $1,500; valued at up to $6,000) for an APS senior with a 3.0 GPA or higher. FN/R
Van Riswick Family Scholarship (1 at $1,500) for an Arlington resident who is an APS high school graduate (attended an APS high school during their junior and senior years), or for an Arlington resident with high school equivalent degree (ex: GED), to attend an accredited postsecondary institution. FN
University of Management and Technology Scholarship (3 at $2,000; valued at up to $6,000) for Arlington students with at least a 3.0 GPA. Awards can be made to applicants who are returning to school or enrolling for the first time as an adult. Renewable for only two additional years. Students can reapply for extensions beyond the 3-year term of the award. R
Wilkerson Family Scholarship (3 at $2,000; valued at $8,000) is for a deserving Arlington high school student. FN/R
Bharati and Lincoln Jain Scholarship is for a renewing student entering their 4th year who needs the funds to persist and finish their degree. Preference for a student studying medicine, business, or engineering. FN
Shay Family Scholarship (up to $4,000) for a new or renewing student to attend an accredited postsecondary institution. FN
Athletic Scholarships
Ben and Irene Burdetsky Scholarship (2 at $1,000; valued at up to $4,000) for APS high school seniors, 1 male and 1 female, to attend an accredited postsecondary school. Consideration will be given to student’s participation in athletics, community service, and leadership. FN/R
Donn and Michael Marston Scholarship (1 at $1,000) for a high school senior who is an Arlington resident who has made a significant contribution to the athletic program in his/her Arlington high school.
Patrick M. Rockelli Memorial Scholarship (1 at $1,000) for a member of the Yorktown HS Football team.
James T. Schollaert Memorial Wrestling Scholarship (1 at $1,000) for a member of an APS wrestling team.
Bill White Tennis Scholarship (1 at $2,000) for a member of the Yorktown HS tennis team.
Christopher M. Cooper Memorial Scholarship (1 at $1,500) for a graduate of an Arlington high school (public or private) or Arlington Resident with a high school equivalent degree (e.g., GED), with a minimum 3.0 GPA, who played on the varsity or junior varsity baseball or softball team at one of Arlington’s high schools. Community Service, Leadership, and Representation Scholarships
PhoenixTeam Scholarship (1 at $2,500; valued at up to $10,000) for a student planning to attend a 4-year college or university from one or more of the following groups: Black, Hispanic, AAPI, Native American, Female, LGBTQIA2+, or disabled. FN/R
Tiffany May Joslyn Arlington Gay and Lesbian Alliance Scholarship (1 at $2,500) for APS high school seniors who are members of their school’s Gay Straight Alliance or whose accomplishments demonstrate significant support for the APS policies of diversity, fairness, and safety, as demonstrated in an essay.
Arthur W. Gosling Scholarship (1 at $2,500) for an APS high school senior who has a strong record of community service and who plans to attend either George Mason or Marymount University. FN
Rich Doud Arlington Chamber of Commerce Scholarship (2 at $2,000) for high school seniors, who are Arlington residents, who have at least a 2.8 GPA, and who demonstrate student and community leadership, to attend an accredited postsecondary institution. FN
Terry Holzheimer Memorial Scholarship (1 at $1,000) for an APS senior with a 3.0 GPA or higher and a strong record of community leadership. FN/R
Godfrey & Glynis Simpson Scholarship (1 at $2,000; valued at $8,000) For a first generation college student of Latino decent with a minimum 2.8 GPA with a preference for those of Caribbean decent, and those interested in studying finance, engineering, or medicine. Students should demonstrate a sense of service to family and community through acts of sharing knowledge, time, and limited resources without an expectation of reward. FN/R
John Carroll Whitener Scholarship (1 at $2,000; valued at up to $8,000) for an APS high school senior who is a member of their school’s Gay Straight Alliance and have documented achievements in leadership. FN/R

Dorothy E. Rogers Memorial Scholarship (1 at $2,500, valued at up to $10,000) for an APS high school senior who is pursuing a degree in a medical field. FN/R
Patricia Blaine Memorial Scholarship (1 at $1,500) is for an Arlington high school student planning to pursue a career as a registered nurse or other healthcare professional. FN
Scholarships to Study Nursing
Dolan Family Nursing Scholarship (2 at up to $5,000; valued at up to $20,000) for Arlington residents, either graduating from an Arlington high school, or currently in college, to study nursing at an accredited postsecondary institution. FN/R

David M. Brown Memorial Scholarship (1 at $2,000; valued at up to $8,000) for an APS high school senior who has a demonstrated interest in STEM fields. FN/R
Jerome Evenson Scholarship (1 at $3,000) for an Arlington public high school senior planning to study science, with a preference for a student wishing to become a science teacher, to attend a four-year college or university. FN
Wang Family Scholarship (2 at $5,000; valued at $25,000) for an APS high school female student who wishes to pursue STEM studies. FN/R
Martin Less Health Science Scholarship (1 at $2,000; valued at $8,000) for a student pursuing a major in the health field or health science. Preference is for a student attending a Virginia public college. FN/R
Scholarship to Study Business
Emerson G. and Dolores G. Reinsch Scholarship (1 at $1,000) for an APS high school senior with at least a 3.0 GPA to attend an accredited postsecondary institution. Preference is given to a student with entrepreneurial spirit and/or planning to study business. FN
Scholarships to Study the Arts or Fine Arts
Honorable William T. Newman Jr. Scholarship (1 at $1,000) for an Arlington African-American high school senior who resides in Arlington with at least a 3.0 GPA, with an interest in the law or the fine arts, to attend an accredited postsecondary institution. FN
Scholarships to Study Education
Dr. Robert G. Smith Scholarship (1 at $2,000; valued at $8,000) for an APS high school senior who is interested in pursuing a degree in Education. FN/R
Jack Wilson Arlington Retired Teachers Association Scholarship (1 at $2,500; valued at $12,500) for an APS high school senior with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, who is interested in pursuing a degree in Education. FN/R
Joan LeBeau Anderson Scholarship (1 at $1,000) is for an Arlington high school student planning to pursue a career in education.
Arthur Gosling Educational Leadership Scholarship (1 at $1,500) is for an APS graduating senior who has demonstrated leadership and plans on a career in education. FN
The Arlington School Administrators (ASA) and the Arlington School Administrator Associates (ASAA) Scholarships (9 at $1,500) provide support annually to students planning to attend a 2- or 4-year college or university. Students are selected based on their demonstration of success and perseverance in the face of obstacles or difficult circumstances. Preference will be given to students who are pursuing a career in education and who have a long history of attendance in the Arlington Public Schools. FN
Future Educators Scholarship (1 at $2,500; valued at $12,500) for an APS high school graduate interested in becoming a teacher or studying education at an accredited institution of higher education. R
Michael A. Musto Memorial Scholarship Fund (1 at $2,000; valued at $8,000) for an APS graduate planning to attend an accredited postsecondary institution and pursuing a degree in education. Preference will be given to a student wishing to become a secondary level history teacher. FN/R
Scholarships to Study Construction
Northern Virginia Building Industry Association Scholarship (1 at $2,500) for a student planning to pursue a degree in a construction-related field. Awarded student must be attending a 2- or 4- year public college or university or accredited institution in Virginia. FN

John and Priscilla Becker Scholarship (1 at $2,500; valued at $10,000) for a public school student interested in international relations, political science, government, and/or history OR music. FN/R
Scholarships to Attend Community College
Valerie and Allen Kitchens Family Scholarship (2 at $1,000; valued at up to $4,000) for an APS high school senior who will be taking at least twelve credits at a community college. FN/R
Mary Marshall Scholarship (6 at $1,500; valued at up to $4,500) for a graduate of an Arlington High School to attend Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA). Renewable for two additional years.
Arlington Education Association/AEA Retired Scholarship (2 at up to $5,000; valued at up to $10,000) for a APS high school senior to attend NOVA. Renewable for two additional years. R
Scholarships for Students of Immigrant Parents
New Americans Scholarship (1 at $5,000; valued at up to $25,000) for an APS high school senior or college student who is or whose parent is a refugee or immigrant to the U.S. Renewable through undergraduate degree with good academic standing. FN/R
Ernest A. and Virginia C. Karl Scholarship (1 at $2,000; valued at up to $8,000) for a Washington-Liberty High School senior with at least a 3.0 GPA and a parent who is a refugee or immigrant to the U.S. Student must be a citizen or permanent resident. Renewable with good academic standing. FN/R
Scholarships for Children of Public Safety Employees of Arlington County
Civic Federation 911 Scholarship (3 at $1,000; valued at up to $4,000) for high school seniors or students who have deferred college enrollment for one year and who had a 2.5 high school GPA to attend an accredited postsecondary institution. Applicants must have a parent who has been an Arlington County uniformed public safety employee or dispatcher for not fewer than 10 years, retired from one of the respective departments, been permanently disabled on the job, or killed in the line of duty.
