2026–2027 Radiologic Technology Scholarships, Grants & Financial Aid for Fortis College Students

U.S. scholarships, grants, and financial-aid programs that could potentially help a student pursuing Radiologic Technology / Radiography / Medical Imaging, with special attention to students attending Fortis College or Fortis Institute.

One important distinction: some awards are specifically for radiologic-science students, while others are general federal/state grants that may be usable at Fortis only if the specific campus/program meets that program’s eligibility requirements. Always have Fortis Financial Aid verify eligibility before relying on an award.

1. ASRT Foundation β€” highest-priority radiologic technology resource

This is probably the single most important organization to contact for a Radiologic Technology student.

The ASRT Foundation specifically funds students and professionals in medical imaging and radiation therapy. Its academic program says there are more than 80 scholarships, and one application can match an applicant to multiple awards. For entry-level awards, applicants generally must be ASRT members, attend an accredited radiologic-science program, have completed at least one semester of radiologic coursework, and meet a minimum 3.0 program GPA.

The next academic scholarship application window shown by ASRT is particularly important:

November 1, 2026 – January 11, 2027.

ASRT Foundation
Phone: 800-444-2778
Address: 15000 Central Ave. SE, Albuquerque, NM 87123-3909

I would call and specifically say:

β€œI am attending or planning to attend Fortis College in the Radiologic Technology program. Which ASRT Foundation entry-level scholarships will I qualify for, and is my Fortis program considered an eligible accredited radiologic science program?”

2. Lambda Nu National Honor Society for Radiologic & Imaging Sciences

Lambda Nu is specifically devoted to radiologic and imaging sciences and reports having awarded $281,000 in student scholarships since 2010. Its standard scholarship recently increased to $1,000, while the Ray Winters Outstanding Student Scholarship increased to $1,500.

The Fall 2026 scholarship application deadline is September 18, 2026, so this is one I would investigate immediately. Applicants generally need to be Lambda Nu student members through a participating local chapter.

Phone: 870-972-2952

Ask Fortis whether its Radiologic Technology department has a Lambda Nu chapter or a relationship with one.

3. Federal Pell Grant

For students with demonstrated financial need, the Federal Pell Grant is one of the most important sources because it normally does not have to be repaid.

For the 2026–27 award year, the maximum Pell Grant is $7,395. Eligible students attending additional terms may also qualify for year-round Pell funding.

Fortis explicitly states that financial aid is available to students who qualify, including Federal Student Aid Grant and Loan programs, state/private funding sources, and payment plans.

Federal Student Aid / FAFSA

When speaking with Fortis Financial Aid, ask them to calculate your 2026–27 Pell Grant eligibility before accepting private loans.

4. Maryland Guaranteed Access Grant β€” potentially very valuable

If the student is a Maryland resident attending an eligible Maryland institution, this deserves serious attention.

The Howard P. Rawlings Guaranteed Access Grant can provide up to $18,000 annually for 2026–27, depending on financial need and eligibility. It has income, age, enrollment and Maryland residency/in-state tuition requirements. The normal 2026–27 FAFSA/MHEC One-App consideration deadline was March 1, 2026.

Because Fortis is a career-focused institution, do not assume Fortis qualifies for this grant. Call MHEC and Fortis and have them verify the specific Fortis campus and Radiologic Technology program.

5. Maryland Educational Assistance Grant

Maryland's Howard P. Rawlings Educational Assistance Grant provides need-based assistance. For 2026–27, awards range from $400 to $3,000 annually.

Again, confirm whether the specific Fortis program is an eligible institution/program before applying the award to your financial plan.

6. Maryland Part-Time Grant

If the student is considering attending part-time, Maryland also operates a Part-Time Grant for eligible students enrolled in 3–11 credits per semester. Awards range from $200 to $2,000.

The program applies to eligible Maryland institutions and all majors, but once again Fortis eligibility needs to be confirmed directly.

7. ASRT grants in addition to scholarships

Don't limit the ASRT search to its annual academic scholarships. The Foundation maintains several separate opportunities throughout the year. Its 2026 calendar includes programs such as the ARRT Grant, Sponsor a Student, Weber State Scholarship, Marilyn Sackett Leadership Scholarship, academic scholarships and other awards.

The ASRT Foundation also points students toward scholarships offered through state radiologic-technologist societies and organizations such as SNMMI.

ASRT Scholarships and Grants Portal

Phone: 800-444-2778

This portal is worth checking every month because different programs have different application windows.

8. Sallie Mae scholarships

Sallie Mae currently maintains several scholarship programs and a free scholarship-search service. Its general scholarship promotion includes a chance at a $2,000 college scholarship through December 31, 2026.

Sallie Mae Scholarship Opportunities

Because this is not restricted to radiologic technology, it can potentially be stacked with profession-specific aid, subject to the school's financial-aid rules.

9. SDMS Foundation β€” only if the program is Sonography rather than Radiography

This distinction matters. If by β€œradiologic technology” you're referring specifically to X-ray/radiography, SDMS is generally not the primary scholarship organization.

However, if the student is pursuing Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Cardiovascular Technology, the SDMS Foundation offers a $2,500 Sonography Student Scholarship to eligible students in CAAHEP-accredited programs. Deadlines occur June 30 and December 31.

Scholarships and financial aid specifically at Fortis

Fortis does offer a Radiologic Technology Associate of Applied Science program, including at Fortis College in Landover, Maryland, as well as locations in Ohio, Louisiana, Georgia, Texas and Tennessee. Graduates of the program are prepared to pursue ARRT certification, subject to the applicable eligibility requirements.

Fortis Radiologic Technology Program

Fortis states that financial aid is available to those who qualify, including federal grants/loans, state and private funding sources, and student payment plans.

Landover, MD 20785

Campus: 301-459-3650
Fortis toll-free: 1-855-436-7847

Fortis specifically says its Landover Radiologic Technology students can meet with the campus Financial Aid office and that government/private loans and other financial-aid options are available to qualifying students.

When calling 301-459-3650, I recommend asking for the Financial Aid Office, not just Admissions.

Ask these exact questions: whether the Radiologic Technology program is currently eligible for Pell Grants; whether the campus participates in FSEOG; whether Fortis offers institutional scholarships or tuition grants for Radiologic Technology students; whether any 2026–27 scholarships remain available; whether external ASRT Foundation scholarships can be applied to the student's account; whether the program qualifies for Maryland MHEC grants; whether employer/workforce-development grants are accepted; and whether there are scholarships specifically for first-generation students, adult learners, career changers, veterans/dependents, women/men in healthcare, minority students, or students with demonstrated financial need.

ARRT contact

ARRT is the major credentialing organization for radiologic technologists. It isn't the first place I'd call for ordinary tuition assistance, but it's an excellent resource for verifying certification/education requirements and identifying professional resources.

My recommended order of attack

I would pursue the money in this sequence:

  1. Call Fortis Financial Aid: 301-459-3650 and request a complete 2026–27 financial-aid review for the Radiologic Technology program.
  2. Complete or verify the FAFSA and determine the exact Pell Grant amount.
  3. Call ASRT Foundation: 800-444-2778 and ask about every entry-level Radiography/Radiologic Technology scholarship for which a Fortis student can qualify.
  4. Ask Fortis about Lambda Nu, because the Fall 2026 deadline is September 18, 2026.
  5. Call Maryland OSFA: 800-974-0203 and give them the exact school: β€œFortis College, Landover β€” Associate of Applied Science in Radiologic Technology.” Ask them to identify every Maryland grant/scholarship for which that exact institution/program is eligible.
  6. Search the Sallie Mae scholarship database for Radiologic Technology, Radiography, Allied Health, Medical Imaging, Healthcare, Adult Learner, Maryland, Prince George's County, first-generation, financial need, and any demographic qualifications that apply.
  7. Ask Fortis for a written Cost of Attendance minus grants/scholarships calculation before taking private student loans.

There is potentially substantial grant and scholarship money here. The ASRT Foundation alone is especially promising: it reports more than 80 scholarship opportunities for radiologic-science students, while Maryland programs can be worth thousands more if Fortis and the individual student satisfy the eligibility requirements.

Here is a expanded research specifically around Fortis College–Landover, Maryland and its Radiologic Technology program, focusing on opportunities that could realistically reduce tuition rather than filling the list with scholarships that a Fortis radiography student clearly cannot use.

The strongest finding is that Fortis Landover's Radiologic Technology program is currently JRCERT-accredited for five years, the campus is approved by the Maryland Higher Education Commission, and Fortis says qualifying students can receive federal, state, and private financial aid.

The Pell maximum is confirmed at $7,395 for 2026–27, and FSEOG can provide $100–$4,000 depending on need, timing, other aid and school funds. Federal Student Aid's help line is 1-800-433-3243.

1. ASRT Foundation β€” the biggest target

This should be at the top of the scholarship strategy.

The American Society of Radiologic Technologists Foundation reports more than 80 scholarships across medical imaging and radiation therapy. It awarded $412,500 for the 2026–27 academic year. The next academic scholarship cycle is scheduled for November 1, 2026 through January 11, 2027.

Current scholarships: View ASRT scholarship programs

The Fortis program's current JRCERT accreditation is particularly important here because many radiologic-science awards require attendance in an appropriately accredited educational program. Fortis identifies JRCERT as its Radiologic Technology programmatic accreditor.

What to say when calling

β€œI am enrolled in the JRCERT-accredited Radiologic Technology program at Fortis College in Landover, Maryland. I am an entry-level radiography student. Please tell me every ASRT Foundation scholarship that my program qualifies me to apply for during the November 1, 2026 application cycle.”

2. Federal Pell Grant β€” up to $7,395

For 2026–27, the maximum Federal Pell Grant is $7,395.

Fortis states that financial aid is available to qualifying students and specifically identifies Federal Student Aid grant and loan programs among its funding sources.

Do this even if you think household income is too high. FAFSA information is also used to establish eligibility for other federal, state and institutional aid.

3. Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant β€” $100–$4,000

FSEOG is another federal grant for undergraduate students with exceptional financial need.

Awards can range from $100 to $4,000 per year. Unlike a student loan, it generally does not have to be repaid. Availability depends partly on how much FSEOG funding the particular school has remaining.

Contact

πŸ“ž Federal Student Aid: 1-800-433-3243

But more importantly:

πŸ“ž Fortis College Landover: 301-459-3650

Ask:

β€œDoes Fortis College Landover participate in Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants, and is any FSEOG funding still available for the 2026–27 award year?”

4. Maryland Senatorial Scholarship β€” VERY promising

This one deserves much more attention than it usually gets.

Maryland explicitly states that the Senatorial Scholarship may be used by Maryland residents attending a private career school, and all in-state majors are eligible. Both full-time and part-time undergraduate students can qualify.

That makes this potentially very relevant to Fortis College Landover.

🌐 Maryland Senatorial Scholarship

Phone

Maryland Higher Education Commission / OSFA

πŸ“ž 800-974-0203

The actual application is handled through the Maryland State Senator representing the student's home legislative district, rather than a U.S. senator. MHEC tells prospective students to contact their local state senator directly.

This is one I would pursue now, even though some major March 1 aid deadlines have passed, because individual legislators establish application procedures.

5. Maryland Delegate Scholarship β€” another major target

The Maryland Delegate Scholarship also specifically allows eligible students attending private career schools in Maryland. Maryland says all in-state majors are eligible.

That combination makes this potentially one of the best state scholarships for a Fortis student.

🌐 Maryland Delegate Scholarship

6. Lambda Nu scholarships

Lambda Nu National Honor Society for Radiologic and Imaging Sciences is directly related to your field.

It now provides a $1,000 standard student scholarship and a $1,500 Ray Winters Outstanding Student Scholarship. Lambda Nu reports having awarded approximately $281,000 in student scholarships since 2010.

Website

🌐 Lambda Nu Scholarships

Phone

πŸ“ž 870-972-2952

The key question is whether a Fortis student can establish/obtain the required Lambda Nu membership. Lambda Nu says accredited radiologic and imaging-science programs can establish chapters.

Tell the Fortis Radiologic Technology Program Director:

β€œDoes Fortis Landover currently have a Lambda Nu chapter? If not, can our JRCERT-accredited Radiologic Technology program establish one?”

That could potentially help multiple Fortis students, not just one.

7. Maryland Educational Assistance Grant

The Howard P. Rawlings Educational Assistance Grant provides up to:

πŸ’° $3,000 per year

and may be received for as many as four years subject to continuing eligibility.

The March 1, 2026 FAFSA/MHEC One-App consideration deadline has already passed for a new 2026–27 applicant.

Still, contact MHEC to determine whether there are any late-award, waitlist, appeal, correction, or subsequent-year possibilities.

🌐 Maryland EA Grant

8. Maryland Guaranteed Access Grant β€” potentially up to $18,000

This is a very large award.

The maximum 2026–27 Guaranteed Access Grant is $18,000. However, it has much narrower requirements, including financial-need, age, income and eligible-institution rules. First-time applicants also had a March 1, 2026 FAFSA/MHEC One-App deadline.

There is an especially important Fortis issue: MHEC describes initial GA eligibility as enrollment at an eligible two- or four-year Maryland institution, so you should not assume Fortis Landover qualifies simply because other Maryland scholarships permit private career schools. This one needs direct verification from MHEC.

🌐 Guaranteed Access Grant

πŸ“ž 410-767-3300
πŸ“ž 800-974-0203

Ask specifically:

β€œIs Fortis College Landover, institutional ID 494843, an eligible institution for the Howard P. Rawlings Guaranteed Access Grant?”

9. Maryland Conroy Memorial Scholarship

This could be an excellent option if military/public-safety family circumstances apply.

Maryland specifically says eligible applicants can include students attending a private career school. Qualifying categories include certain children/spouses of military personnel, veterans with qualifying service-connected disability, and certain public-safety families.

🌐 Conroy & Cryor Scholarship Programs

πŸ“ž MHEC: 410-767-3300
πŸ“ž 800-974-0203

The usual application date is July 15, so the 2026–27 cycle is already past as of August 17, 2026, but it should be placed on the calendar for the next available cycle.

10. Imagine America Foundation β€” career college scholarships

This is particularly interesting because the Imagine America Foundation specializes in career colleges and now has a dedicated Radiologic Technology scholarship page.

It lists three $1,000 programs:

Program Intended applicant
Imagine America High School Scholarship Eligible high-school seniors
Adult Skills Education Program (ASEP) Adult learners
Military Award Program (MAP) Active duty, reservists and honorably discharged military

Imagine America specifically says these awards can support radiologic-technology training at participating career colleges.

Important Fortis warning

I did not find sufficient current evidence that Fortis College Landover is presently one of Imagine America's participating Radiologic Technology schools.

So don't count this $1,000 until Imagine America verifies it.

🌐 Imagine America Radiologic Technology Scholarships

Ask:

β€œIs Fortis College Landover, Maryland currently a participating institution for the Adult Skills Education Program, Military Award Program or Imagine America Scholarship?”

11. ARRT / Royce Osborn opportunity

ARRT created the Royce Osborn scholarship initiative to help broaden participation in radiologic sciences. ARRT reports that its program has awarded five $4,000 scholarships annually to eligible students in entry-level Radiography, Sonography, MRI, Radiation Therapy or Nuclear Medicine Technology programs.

The current ASRT scholarship page now lists a Royce Osborn Student Scholarship funded by ARRT for entry-level radiography and related imaging students.

Because program structure and naming have evolved, I would apply through the current ASRT Foundation scholarship process rather than relying on an older ARRT application path.

12. Federal Work-Study β€” not a scholarship, but don't overlook it

Federal Work-Study isn't free tuition money in advance, but it provides earned wages that do not have to be repaid and can be available at colleges, career schools and trade schools. Federal Student Aid says eligibility begins with filing the FAFSA.

Ask Fortis:

β€œDoes Fortis College Landover participate in Federal Work-Study for 2026–27, and are there any positions suitable for Radiologic Technology students?”

πŸ’΅ An important strategy: stack the awards

These programs aren't necessarily mutually exclusive. Depending on the student's financial need and each program's rules, a funding package could potentially include:

Pell Grant + FSEOG + Maryland Delegate/Senatorial Scholarship + ASRT scholarship + other private scholarships.

For example, the maximum Pell award alone is $7,395, FSEOG can reach $4,000, and several outside scholarships could add more.

The financial-aid office determines how outside scholarships interact with the student's total cost of attendance and other aid, so every award should be reported to Fortis.

πŸ“ž The five calls I would make this week

  1. Fortis Financial Aid β€” 301-459-3650. Ask for a complete 2026–27 review of Pell, FSEOG, state grants, institutional grants, scholarships, work-study and outside scholarship acceptance.
  2. ASRT Foundation β€” 800-444-2778. Tell them you are an entry-level student in the JRCERT-accredited Fortis College Landover Radiologic Technology program and want to prepare for the November 1, 2026 scholarship opening.
  3. MHEC/OSFA β€” 410-767-3300 or 800-974-0203. Ask them to check Fortis Landover against every state award available to private career-school students, especially Senatorial and Delegate Scholarships. Both programs expressly include eligible private-career-school enrollment.
  4. Your Maryland State Senator and Delegates. These are especially important because the Senatorial and Delegate programs are distributed through Maryland legislative districts rather than Congress.
  5. Lambda Nu β€” 870-972-2952. Determine whether a Fortis Landover Radiologic Technology student can join an existing chapter or whether Fortis could establish a Lambda Nu chapter.

πŸ“… Scholarship calendar to put on your phone

Now through September 2026: Fortis financial-aid review; contact Maryland Senator/Delegates; investigate Lambda Nu; check remaining private awards.

September 18, 2026: Based on Lambda Nu's published 2026 scholarship information found in the earlier research, treat this as an immediate deadline to confirm directly with Lambda Nu.

November 1, 2026: ASRT Foundation academic scholarship applications open.

January 11, 2027: ASRT application closes.

Early 2027: File the next FAFSA and Maryland applications as early as possible, rather than waiting for Maryland's priority deadlines.

One correction from the earlier research is also important: I would not count the Maryland 2+2 Transfer Scholarship as a primary Fortis opportunity. It is designed around transfer from a two-year institution into a Maryland four-year bachelor's program, rather than funding the initial Fortis Radiologic Technology associate program. The Senatorial and Delegate Scholarships are substantially better leads because MHEC explicitly includes private career-school students.
