    Please consider supporting our Southeastern Virginia Alumni Chapter (SEVA) as they raise money for scholarships. The SEVA Alumni Chapter Scholarship fundraiser will be a venture with Doublegood Popcorn.
     
    This Virtual Popcorn 4 Day Sale will help provide scholarships to undergraduate students at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) from the Southeastern Virginia Alumni Chapter (SEVA). The fundraiser will ONLY be from 6:00 PM, October 29, 2020, to 5:00 PM (EST), November 2, 2020.

    It is time to Get Back In Shape! Join us for our first class starting on Saturday, October 24, 2020, at 10:00 AM.
    We will have a special guest appearance by Miss Teen Globe United States, Martina Myers.
    This class will be for skaters and non-skaters!
     
    This event will be at Temple Hills Skate Palace, 3132 Branch Avenue, Temple Hills, Maryland.
    Admission is ONLY $15 per person for a one-hour class session. 
    Ages 16 and above are welcome to participate.
    We recommend that you bring knee pads and gloves for your hands.

    This stage play was written by Akiva McClam and is based on true events from the book "The Storm Has A Ministry Too" book author, Wanda Briscoe.

    Synopsis: She overcame divorce. Fought back from a stroke. Beat breast cancer. Now she is faced with the death of her son murdered in Atlanta, Ga. They say three strikes and you're out but this mother refuses to stop swinging. Come witness a modern-day Job fight back through her storm and transition to the woman she is today.

    Research indicates that first-generation college students--college students whose parent(s) have not earned a bachelor's degree--face more disadvantages than their peers whose parent(s) have earned a college degree. One of these disadvantages is the lack of social capital--or access to information.


    While working in higher education for nearly 10 years, I have discovered a solution--getting the information to the parents. When parents get the information needed to support their child's college goals the child is more likely to experience greater levels of success as a college student.


    So if you are an overwhelmed parent or family member of a first-generation college student, through this class you will gain insight to assist your child in planning for and navigating the college process so that you can develop confidence in the plan for your child's college education and they can have a strengthened sense of community and support to persist to graduation.
