The “Healing Hearts Benefit Showcase: An Evening of Broadway” is purposed as an awareness campaign and fundraiser with a portion of proceeds to benefit the Child Welfare League of America (CWLA). CWLA envisions a world where every child can grow up in a safe, loving, and stable family. 4 the Healing in You, Inc. shares this vision. In 2011, there were 2,529 victims of child maltreatment in the District of Columbia alone. This is alarming and we aim to bring awareness, change, and healing to the youth and families in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area. This Benefit Showcase is only a small step as local vocalists come together to lend their talents to the cause.

The First Baptist Church of Suitland in conjunction with the Suitland Technology Education Engagement Resource (STEER) Center presents the annual “Raise the Roof” Gospel Jam Celebration for anyone looking to have a blessed time in the Lord! 

(Suitland, MD, April 20, 2013) – The First Baptist Church of Suitland in conjunction with the Suitland Technology Education Engagement Resource (STEER) Center presents the annual “Raise the Roof” Gospel Jam Celebration on Saturday, April 20, 2013, 6:00pm to 9:00pm in the main sanctuary of the church, located at 5400 Silver Hill Rd., Suitland, MD.  There is a donation of $10 at the door.  This event is open to all those who are looking for an evening full of praising and celebrating the Lord!

This event has a wonderful history of bringing women together every spring for 7 years for an afternoon of not only fine food, and sister friendships, but providing important information on health & wellness, self-esteem building, and spiritual growth. This event has always been an annual remedy to restore and renew what has been broken, disconnected, or forgotten for women.

Men Aiming Higher in collaboration with Mentoring to Manhood present a “Silence the Violence Charity Basketball Game” featuring special guest basketball players and a surprise halftime show.

With the recent upturn of violence in our community, many of our neighborhoods and schools have become fortresses of fear. We must sound the alarm, mobilize our community and take a stand to say “no to violence.”  The second Annual Silence the Violence Charity Basketball game will challenge our county to plant the seeds of peace, love and hope in our homes, cul-de-sacs, schools, community centers and parks.

On April 12, 2013 Men Aiming Higher will be playing Mentoring to Manhood in a Charity Basketball Game to raise monies for the families of the young boys that were recently killed from Suitland High School and we need your help.
