My mother and father started this group in 1976 and named us the Brothers. We traveled locally around the Charlotte area singing mostly at churches and schools. In the Air Force 1984 I joined and after a 4 year stay The Mayes Brothers took on a more contemporary style and I was still settled on the quartet style.In 1990 I met Kevin cloud (formally of Slim and The Sepreme Angels) and we began forming Heavenbound along with Reginald Funderburke, Tyrone Cloud, and Thurman Lilly. The group change membership many times but the crew that included Brian Mayes, Benjemin Ellis, Kevin Polson, and Wade Crowder met with Tommy Ellison and The Singing Stars and began traveling with the group. After a few years of traveling the road in 2003 I was called into the ministry.We developed a nonprofit called Family Life Outreach. We mentor young students with educational needs, developed a nationwide step team and work with many state and local officials concerning youth needs and gang preventions. To date Family Life still has 100% of students leaving the youth program and going to college.Outreach Radio will also play a big part in teaching youth some of the dos and don'ts of the record industry. Keeping Christ first will always be the best guide. This will also give me a chance to continue my music ministry and do the thing that I love so well.
