LaTasha Ward, mother of one daughter, a business owner, public servant, community advocate and political strategist. LaTasha was born in the District of Columbia and was raised in Prince George’s County, Maryland where she currently resides, in Bowie, Maryland in the Holmehurst Community.
LaTasha is a product of Prince Georges County Public Schools System; she attended John Carroll Elementary, Happy Acres Elementary, Mary McLeod Bethune Junior High and she is a graduate of Fairmont Heights High School, where she developed leadership and teamwork skills as she led her Basketball Team to the school's first girl's Maryland state championship in 1984.
LaTasha chose a path to work with the at-risk population. She began as a counselor working for Eckerd Youth Challenge Program in 1993 located in Doncaster, Maryland. Within a year she was hired as a Unit Manager at Thomas O' Farrell Youth Program 1994 in Marriottsville, Maryland; and was later asked in 1995 to help spearhead The Maryland Juvenile Boot Camp located in Doncaster, Maryland as an Aftercare case Manager for boys in Prince George's and Montgomery County. She finished her career as a Program Coordinator with the Girls' Outreach Program located in Arlington, Virginia in 2007 and proceeded to run her own business.
LaTasha has been a successful business owner for nine years. She currently has 2 retail stores and 1 Marketing/consulting company located in the 24th District in Seat Pleasant, Maryland. LaTasha served on the Deacon Board at Jericho City of Praise for over 12 years. In 2008 and 2012 she helped to register people to vote to help elect and re-elect our President Barack H. Obama. In 2010 LaTasha worked in the primary and the general elections to educate and increase the voter turnout in the 24th Legislative District. LaTasha also was the Campaign Manager and Strategist for Candidate Greg Hall for the House of Delegates Legislative District 24. LaTasha ran and operated a grassroots campaign that helped him to receive 5 endorsements and he placed 4th out of 10 other candidates, his first time running for office. Her efforts position him to become the Nominee on November 2, 2012 by the Central Committee to receive the appointment for the replacement of Delegate Tiffany Alston Vacant seat.
